RV Furnace - No heat to rear vent --- solved!

Solved a puzzle today that I discovered a few weeks ago. I turned on my furnace to test it out and realized I wasn't getting any heat to the rear outlet. I tried a few things, but eventually wound up cutting into the bottom to access the vent duct...and found it was disintegrated! Not only that, but the wire it was made of had somehow wrapped itself around the slide-out mechanism.

Not real sure why Jayco put the duct right by the slide-out mechanism as it seems like a failure waiting to happen. I replaced the duct...several hours on my back...and prevented it from happening with two screws and a few feet of galvanized hanger tape. In other words, it cost me four hours, a trip to the hardware store, and a few bucks to fix something that could have been prevented with about two minutes of work and less than two dollars at the factory.

Passing this along in case anyone with a similar model has the same issue.

On a side note, I also discovered the rear duct has a few small ducts coming off it that direct air towards the tanks.

Thanks for updating us on a problem and your fix. At least you now have a better understanding of how the tanks are heated.

If this is a newer unit, a letter to Jayco pointing out the problem and solution MAY do some good for the next guy with the problem.
