I wish my fifth wheel had a third A/C unit.

2 ac's if you can. I really only find that both come on during the intial cool down here in Texas, but it's good to have a backup too. I can actually make my 30' FW cold. In a TT, it's probably even more effective with the lower cieling.

Easy answer, Take a look at dealer stock in the south, 90% plus have 2-a/c if offered on that TT.

I guess I'll pile on and say that my camper has 1 x AC and I really wish I had gotten the 50AMP service and the 2nd AC unit. The one can maintain temp OK on a hot day, but it is not enough to bring the whole camper down into the arctic temperature range I prefer.

..and a side benefit besides being comfortable - if the 2nd unit is in the master bedroom.... We find the sound from the unit is just enough to cover up the inevitable 2am party next door... plus the "white noise" it makes helps us sleep better than we do at home!

I had a trailer with one AC, and it sucked. It was so bad that my wife and I just bought one with 3 AC's. We will not go through that again. You don't know you need 2 AC's till you do.

Our Eagle tt has 2. This last week at Myrtle beach was extremely hot. Couldn't have done it with 1 ac

If you happen to be cursed with a dark exterior color on your unit, then 2 AC's for sure. With a white or light colored unit, you may be able to get along with just one (15k) AC.

Another thing is if your camper has been in the sun all day it will cool down much quicker with 2 AC's when you get to the campground.

It's not the temperature, it's the humidity. One would do fine in 105 degrees and 30% humidity, but not in 90 degrees and 60% humidity.

Definitely 2

We just spent the past two weeks in 100+ temps out west. We even stayed in Needles, CA when it was 125 degrees. We really did appreciate our 2nd AC every day on this trip. Our previous trailer only had the one 15K and in the TX heat it could handle it but took quite some time. I don't think a single 15K would have worked on this past trip.

From the experience I just encountered, if you are in an area that gets high temps/humidity or plan to be opt for the second unit. If not, you should be able to get by with a single unit

We have two on our Jayco and have never felt the need to run both at the same time. In 100+ temps in Az one ac seems to work just fine. We leave it on 74 degrees and when it turns on we close the windows and doors. I can see how a second ac could help when traveling and stopping for the night if you need a quick cool down.

you must have been parked in shade?

Facing East towards the Sun. No shade. I ran it non-stop for a couple hours. We weren't in and out of it. I'm not sure if the Eagles are just insulated more or what...but it performed incredible. Ducted AC just tends to be more efficient in my book. Put it this way, my wife had to use a throw when she was inside. The couple next to us had a 33 Eagle with one AC and they were getting the same results. It took a bit to cool down but once it was cooled, it stayed cooled. We had condensation on the glass only, not on the sides. That tells me the trailer was well insulated. Like I said, when we go again this year, I'll document it and have pics and/or video.

FWIW..my mother didn't believe me either!

We had two in the motorhome. We never gave it much thought when we bought the travel trailer as the TT is smaller than the motorhome. So we brought it with one (no other options since we bought used with a 30amp service). We live in Florida and have kept the TT at the beach all summer. So far no issues at all (except when my son is there going in and out the door a lot). My biggest concern is, what if this one should break -- then two will be nice I did put solar screen behind the pleated shades with suction cups and it makes a big difference cutting down heat. I also bought a tower oscillating fan that fits on the little nightstand. But we have only used it a couple of times. Next go round it will be two.

One is in the main living area (ducted), the second in the bunkhouse (not ducted). So to answer your question, get 2 if you can, at least make sure its prewired for when you want a second down the road!

X2, get the pre-wire at least, consider the thermal package for extra insulation too. Ours with the 1 15K AC and thermal package gets by, Florida in July was the worst we have experienced, it was able to maintain 75-77 I would guess, but it struggled in the day. Cant imagine a single 13K doing that, and glad I have the option to add another if I want. It is a 50 Amp with prewire, but you can safely adapt it down to 30 Amp since its just the 1 AC unit, if you had 2, you would probably need 50.

As others have said, cooling when you arrive too would be faster, thats our biggest annoyance. Cheap small Fans for circulation into bunk areas etc also help a lot.

For your circumstances, if you can get two, get two. Your trailer is pretty big, and you'll be camping a lot in the south. If you were doing most of your camping in the Rockies, you probably wouldn't need two. If you were smaller, you might not need two.

My 23RB doesn't have the option of two, but I don't really need two anyway. It's relatively short so doesn't have that much space in side. Now, the 23RB did have an option for a 15K unit, and if I had been ordering it, I would have gotten that option.

That said, my 13.5K AC has been doing a wonderful job keeping it cool during this 93+ degree, and 80% humidity we're having in Richmond,VA now.

Anyone out there with experience in the size Jayco we are looking at that camps in the heat of the summer? Would one unit just not be enough? TIA.
