Brakes not braking

Hi all,
Took our brandy new Jayco Eagle out, 320rlts, and found the brakes pretty inaffective. Tow vehicle is a 2012 f250 with factory brake control. I know the brakes need adjusting but want to kbow if anybody knows whose axles they put on these things, lippert or Dexter, forward self adjusters or manual. I have the 16 inch Goodyear tire upgrade. Maybe I should call jayco?

Check the axle, ours has a tag on it that states the axle information. That is the best way to find out what you have. Sorry, you will need to crawl under your unit for that.

You can also send JAYCO an email requesting the information at service@jayco.com include your VIN with your request.

I once had a popup with very weak breaks. I even tried applying 12 volts directly to them from a battery and they would barely slow the trailer down. I could tell they were trying to work, just not very well. I even checked the adjustment on the brake shoes themselves but it didn't help.

Personally, I think the manufacturer (not Jayco) put the axle in backwards. Electric brakes never work well in reverse. Kind of interesting that the trailer passed a mandatory state safety inspection when they sold it to me new! I suppose I should have forced them to fix it but now it's someone elses problem.
