TV mount in Bunkhouse of 32TSBH?
Alright, just got back from a wonderful weekend of camping. I was trying to figure out how to mount a tv in the center area of the backwall of the bunkhouse. I mean it looks perfect for a wall mount! A nice recessed area and all. I got out my electric stud finder in an attempt to locate the extra support that I knew must be there. Like I said, it looks as though it was made for a wall mounted tv. Guess what? Not extra support. Just a center stud, that has a piece of molding going down the middle. On top of that, my stud finder informed me that there where also electrical wires back there as well! Thus, a wall mount will not happen. I got to looking at the entire picture and realized that maybe I could mount a ceiling or under cabinet mount there instead. There is a cabinet above the opening. I started searching for a wall mount and can not find one like I would like to have. I want to be able to pull the tv out from the recessed area and turn it towards either of the bunks on each side. Has anyone mounted a tv in that recessed area? Does anyone know of a ceiling mount that will do what I want it to do? TIA

I just use a 37" LCD TV with a stand. Lay it flat on the Jay Cubes when towing. This way, I also use the same TV outside during football season. When we're not camping, it resides in my son's room. Just never felt like buying a dedicated TV for it. Sorry I couldn't help directly, but I have heard that if you contact Jayco, they will send you the schematics. I have the parrtial schematics, but they won't help with what your looking to do. Sorry/

I hadn't measured the recessed area, but you say a 37 inch will fit in there?!

So this is exactly something I was thinking of doing earlier this year, but I have a 40" Samsung LED I was wanting to put back there. The tv measured just a half inch or so too big on either side. I came up with an idea to build a rack out of some 2x4 that sits inside the cubby and has a TV mount secured to it instead of the wall. If you build it to size, it should fit snug in the cubby and provide a nice, stable, mount for the tv. If you use a detachable mount (like I would) you can pull the tv off and put it on a bunk while traveling. Also, depending on the tv size you could also mount a sound bar below the set as well. So why haven't I built it yet? I have a Sony PS3 Display in the cubby right now that is 24", has a stand, and works pretty well. Plus, I put the 40" on it's stand so I can take it outside for football. I stow it in the wardrobe in the back

Good idea! I am thinking now of taking a couple of 2x4's about 4 inches long and attaching a piece of plywood 4 inches wide to the front 2 inch sides of the 2x4's then staining to match the other wood work. I could then mount the 2x4's to each side going into the wardrobes on each side with a couple of bolts, washers and nuts. I could then attach the wall mount to the plywood. I believe that it should be a fairly secure mount for a tv up to about 26 inches. My TT is stored at my cg, so removal really should not be an issue, but I could purchase a wall mount that would allow that. There should also be room for a sound bar as well. Next question is where do I find stain to match?? Darn, I wish my TT wasn't 275 miles away, cause I would have a fun project to work on today! Thanks for the idea!

Just re-measured the TV - it is 34" but fits in there easily. Don't think a 37" would be an issue.
