POP UP not popping up..... HELP!!

We have an older model 1998 Jayco Eagle 12 SO pup that we 'rescued'. We rehabbed the interior with new paint & some new fabric but it's in pretty good condition for its' age. We did some pretty minor repair work to the front wall and slide out floor. No biggie really...it's been worth it to us to do all this cosmetic stuff. We only paid $500 for it and bought maybe $300 worth of paint & other materials.
But NOW we find that we cannot even raise the roof. Have no idea what's happened. It worked fine the last time we used it just 2 months ago. We were all set for a camping trip last weekend, got all the way to the campground and nada. Roof raises approximately 6 inches but then stops on the right side. Left side will continue to raise on its own, and did so for a few cranks before we realized what was happening. We stopped everything at that point.
We never did get it open. We had to turn around and go home. 😓 Our 'big vacation' was a bust.
So my question is....is this catastrophic? Can it be fixed first of all and how intricate and costly would this type of fix be? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as we are novices.

Could be a cable jumped off a pulley or broke. Crawl underneath and start looking at both on the right side. Also try cranking while one or two people lift the right side and see what happens.

I agree cable broken or off the pulleys but

Crawl inside, make sure nothing is stuck and holding it down. Wall fabric may have caught on something.

Also, lube everything, rust on the cables happens.

Cable issue on the corner you pointed out. For what you paid, I'd cut my losses unless you are looking to make your new hobby pop-up repair. If you do replace the cable use STAINLESS STEEL CABLE so you never have to do it again....yeah those steel cables rust and break. That's why you stick those posts on the corners of the roof, in case the cables break so the roof don't fall and kill you.

Thank your luck stars it didn't go up...not coming down is much much worse
