How many batteries in a new 5th wheel
I assumed that because there were two battery cases the dealer would install two batteries but there is only one battery installed in the new 5th wheel and a email back from the dealer said yes two battery cases but we only one battery. Is this normal or am getting screwed? Thanks

We didn't get ANY batteries included. It's a dealer installed OPTION. We are only using 1 at the moment, but will be adding a second one because we will start doing off the grid camping this year.

Most dealers will give you one battery with a new trailer.

Batteries don't come standard equipment in the trailers from manf - They are dealer provided at a cost or a hand shake - Mine had two spots for batteries but one standard issue GP24 85AH Interstate provided...
Since that whole area just inside the front storage door is available I have seen as many as four GC2 batteries sitting in that area. The floor space is open for draining and easy to attach vent hoses to all closed battery boxes... This is all under our front bedroom so I would definitely mount the batteries in a somewhat sealed box.
This is what one dude did with his fifth wheel putting four GC2 6VDC gulf cart batteries here...
Then covered it up with a full size board all the way across the top of it like this... I didnt read how he vented his battery box but the board on top is sealing off the battery box below it when strapped down...
Photos from GOOGLE IMAGES - not mine
Pretty neat I thought...

My dealer installed 2- 12v batteries. It is a dealer installed option. I never even discussed it with them and they stepped up and put them in. I was not aware that it was a option cause every rig I ever bought from a dealer came with battery or in this case batteries.
Some charge you extra, some absorb it as a expense. I would assume it is built to the dealers profit somehow.

On some FW's the manufacture does provide the battery, depends on the type of landing gear (hydraulic, electric, etc.).

Our Dealer provided one battery, typically if you are staying in parks with power, one is all you need.
We added a second battery just to have the extra power during short power outages at CGs.
Our Pinnacle is generator prepped, at this point we have decided not to get a generator, wife is a 50 Amp Queen, just can not justify one.

Thanks for the input. I guess buying a brand new 5th wheel for the first time is a learning curve, last one was used and it came with everything, pirvate sale.

Mine came with one. I asked the dealer to deduct the price and I put two very good deep cycles in. Works great for dry camping.
