What am I doing wrong? (an "off brand" winterizing question)
I have been winterizing my own campers (and familys) for years now, and have never had problems like im having with my buddies Class A Intruder. Last year was his first time owning a RV, so I helped him winterize it. It took some time to get the pump to prime, but once we did, it pumped out at least 2 gallons of antifreeze before we realized it was all going on the ground at the low point drains. After closing those, we managed to get the rest of the system winterized with no problems.
This year, I offer to have him store his motorhome at our place since I live in the country and have plenty of space, as he lives in the city. So he brings the motorhome out last Sunday and says, that he put antifreeze in the drains, but not yet in the lines. We tried to pump some in the lines while he was there, but were unable to get the pump to prime. So over this weekend, the temps warmed up, I figured I would at least try to blow out the lines, but even that didn't get much out of the system. With a decent leak at the city water connection, I turned up the pressure of the compressor and still had very little water/air coming out of the faucets.
What gets me, is I read the winterizing instructions near the city water connection, and it says to pour antifreeze in the fresh water tank, and allow it to run through the system. If I cant get it to syphon at the inlet side of the pump, how am I going to be able to get it to syphon out of the tank?
I'm stumped... Any ideas??? or do i just have a bad pump?
