I agree withraising4daughters 100%. Even though the Tacoma is rated @ 6500 lbs.towing capcity, I would not tow anything over 3500 lbs. Gross Trailer Weight. The Tacoma does fine flat ground, however on hills and mountains the
6 cylinder is working hard. In the Mountains your going to be traveling in the
truck lane. My Tacoma came with the 3 bar rear leaf spring setup. Toyota announced a TSB to upgrade the Tacoma to a 4 spring setup, however my
warranty had expired. When I bought my X17Z and hooked it up with my
Reese dual cam WDH and the rear end still had notable sag. I installed a set of
Timbren SES bump stops on the rear. That stopped the rear sag. My Tacoma
tows my X17Z with awesome handling characteristics no sway even with
18 wheelers and buses passing me or me passing them. I had one of those
double decker MEGABUS pass me on the interstate and non of that push / pull
effect. The only down side to the Tacoma IMO is that it does not perform well
on steep grades and mountain travel.
