Winterizing Question
I've heard that you should leave all your dump valves open with the caps on when you put away for the winter. Something about prolonging life of the ball valve seals. Anyone else heard this?

Not I. I'm thinking keeping them closed, keeps the RV anti freeze in your tanks where it would be most useful.

Closed with some antifreeze and a few gallons of water in there. Dried out holding tanks are not a good thing.

closed with water and antifreeze. At least the antifreeze it took to winterize.

Since I am a newbie I asked friends with rV's about winterizing. One told me to open my valve to let things dry out in the winter( assuming poo and TP that want't washed out) so it comes out with an easy rinse in spring time? My trailer has a black tank flush, so I did a really long wash last weekend during my last camping trip and kept my valve closed for winter. There will be a little bit of antifreeze in my tanks from the process.

I would wonder whether it would dry and wash out or dry and become hard as a rock like concrete and be really hard to get out.

I leave my valves closed, but I spray the metal shaft with 100% silicone to lubricate and keep it from drying out.

I've always kept them closed, thinking whatever antifreeze that rests in that part of the tank would keep the gate valve from sticking and the rubber soft. Could be wrong though! Always flushed both tanks well on the last trip out with the flush king
