One month during winter in Florida

Would anyone be willing to give me an idea about cost, location, and campground referral for Florida? I'm actually looking to plan for winter of 2020 and seeing it is much more costly in Florida than in Arizona. I'm ok paying more if that is the norm. Seems you have to plan way in advance to find something long term so I want to get an idea so I'm ready to make a reservation.

Thank you,

Stacie and Tim

North Florida is cheaper than south Florida. Here in Naples the going rate for rv spot is around 1000+ for January alone if you can find one. The park we are in have owner owned open spots but they fill up quick. The cost of fuel and food are around the same. if you would like more info let me know but the prices wont be the same in 2020.

Also south Florida has warmer temps in Jan, Feb so higher prices of course.

Lake Okeechobee area is beautiful and lots to do. About an hour and a half to the Atlantic side and an hour to Miami. We love it. We have an inside lot $350 per month plus our electric runs about $44. Take a look.

Most of the better CG around Orlando will run $500/wk of course their monthly rates are discounted, but elec is then a seperate bill.

what are you looking for in a campground?
What part of Florida?
We mostly stay in FL State Parks and have paid at most $28 a night

in Cedar Key we've stayed at an RV resort. It tops out at $740 a month

its about two hours north of Tampa.
South Florida would be more

We like to hike, bike, kayak....We would at least like access to these things near us. The beach close would be nice but we do not necessarily need a spot walking distance. We mainly do not sit around well. A community is nice as well

We are open to any part of Florida....we like warmth but in the 60's is ok

We like state parks but it is challenging to manage getting reservations when the "window" opens for multiple parks. Any pointers?

Spent one night at Treasure Coast RV Resort in Ft. Pierce Fla. on the way to the Keys. Very clean and all concrete pads. Very friendly staff and looked like nice winter spot. Some campers already coming in for winter. Probably full but you could check. Cracker Barrel right down the street.

One place or several? I booked for February about three weeks ago in FL State Parks. They were getting quite full..

We have a small unit which opens up more options.. We will start at TJ Stone for the biking paddling and stunning beach.. But its cold often. Near Port St Joe

Then on to Ocklawaha for biking and birding

Then Rainbow Springs for biking and paddling

Juniper Run NF for paddling
Sanlan RV resort in Lakeland for nearness to the Van Fleet bike trail and birding and hiking

Collier Seminole outside Naples for biking birding and paddling.. There is also a lot of hiking there.
So we move around

FL State Parks opens reservations 11 months prior to your arrival date

Pen and paper helps plan out the trip to make sure we covered all the nights. It takes an evening to coordinate. I did the reservations and planning in about three hours.

Kim, Can a phone call to reserve multiple state campgrounds within the state work? Do you need to use the online reservations for each one?
Thank you again for your recommendations

Stacie

You can call the number on the link below.. All reservations are done by Reserve America

If you do it on line you still deal with Reserve America.. So it is a matter of which you are more comfortable with. I hate phoning!

There is a bit of a problem if you hope that the person who takes your call knows of the campground you deal with.. Its been a gamble for us and with experience we know which sites we prefer. That said we have never been stuck with a horrid stinker. We know Collier Seminole is packed side by side and the sites close. We know Rainbow Springs RV area is in the sun.. And TJ Stone shaded. The thumbnail pix on line are so small as to not be helpful

I think the call center is not in Florida as it handles multiple states.

I sure wish my wife would take a queue from you Kim! We already made ours before we left this year at one of them.

Never camped in the Keys. Always wanted to but Bahia Honda books up as soon as the reservation are open. 11 months before arrival date.. You do have to be making that reservation at exactly midnight.
Same for Pennekamp.. Just about impossible..
All booked for winter 2019-20
