Suggestions for first-timer

We are going to head south for two months this winter as this will be our first "Snowbird" type adventure. We are thinking of either Southern Texas or Arizona and we are looking for a place that has lots of activities and such. Any suggestions on resorts that you would recommend?

There's a great RV Resort in Sedona. Very nice, walk to town, lot's of activities in the area.
May not be warm enough for you though in the winter.

Are you sure two months will be enough???? Where to stay can depend on what you like to do or what your expectations are. Golf, hiking, full service CG, boon docking, ATV's, music, small towns, big towns, car shows, fishing, or just wanting to move around a lot. Our first trip to Az was to be 3 months and ended up being just over 4 months. We now stay 6 to 7 months.

I would love to spend part of the Winter in Sedona however, I just looked up the average temps and they are 53 high with average lows in upper 20s

I am sure that two months WILL NOT be enough but unfortunately, that's all the time I will have

Our first trip was only three weeks. Heading to Arizona with the snow chasing us all the way. We just wanted to be warm! Hit most of the National Parks & whatever tourist attractions that caught our eye on the way. Really wasn't long enough but gave us a chance to see areas we'd never been to & get a feel for whether being snowbirds would appeal to us.
There is a lot to be said for not being destination oriented & just enjoying the trip. It's a great way to discover just where YOU want to be.
We stumbled onto Quartzsite AZ.. I know lots of folk HATE it. We met some great people, discovered we like to rockhound (who knew?) And it is close to lots of different areas to recreate. Not for everyone, but the point is we would never have just GONE there.

Troutslayer you can't go wrong either way RGV (south Texas) or AZ . We spent two years in south Texas one in Weslico and the other in Alamo Texas both are in the middle of the Rio Grande valley that way you are close to it all.the last two years we went to AZ from north to south. Out their elevation is a big difference in temp . From two thousand feet to four thousand it's about 10 degrees nights are cold.we pull a RZR with us and do a lot of exploring. Lots of atv's in most parks. This year we are stopping for a month in south Texas then the last three will be in AZ . I think you will like both places.

We decided to try a place called Desert Trails RV Park just outside Tucson. The sites themselves seem a bit "funky" but it has good reviews, the cost will not break the bank and it's located adjacent to some (supposedly) great hiking and biking trails...We'll see how it goes!

You should find plenty to keep you busy at Tucson lots to see . We go their a few times shopping in the winter. We will be just outside of Tombstone in March we usually go later it's about 4,000 feet and a little cooler early in the winter. Enjoy your trip and do some exploring.
