For you coming to Maine

Be aware that there are going to be heavy delays as the Piscataqua River Bridge is redone as well as the York Toll Plaza which is being relocated. .

Plan alternate routes. The Sarah Long Bridge is open but it may not be fun getting there for long RV's, unless the rotary is used. ( Exit 5 don't miss it) Or consider Rt 4 north to Rt 9 east.

And there is now a charge for parking in Bar Harbor. No more free unless you are a resident.

Thanks for the notice for the Piscataqua River Bridge & York Toll plaza. Not heading that way until September but good to know.

Will keep that info in our Trip Journal.

Thanks again.

Paying for parking was not an issue for us. We stayed at Bar Harbor/ Oceanside KOA and the free shuttle bus picked us up right at the campsite. Short ride to downtown. Really enjoyed our stay there.

Thanks for the information Kim. We’re headed that way in July and unfortunately will probably have to deal with it as the alternate routes are a little tight for us.

I only wish! We are having a heat wave here with many days over 100 and not a rumor of rain in the future. Hot summer for sure.

Don't know bridges by name, had to look up what you're talking about. Now I know the Piscataqua River Bridge is the I-95 bridge between New Hampshire and Maine. One online article I saw said SIX OPEN LANES as normal during daylight hours from Memorial Day to Columbus Day - the only restrictions will be at night, although lanes will probably be somewhat more narrow than normal. Hoping that won't affect us next week when we come through on Tuesday.

Is the York Toll Plaza relocation actually affecting traffic at this time? Info seems a bit hard to find.

Thanks, Kim!

Norty.. no hot summer here.. It did get relatively warm today.. 60. Mostly been in the 40's and 50's for daytime highs. and no big change till at least June 15

Hope it will be warmer in July. We had First Summer last Sat.. a year to date high of 74. Perhaps there will be a Second Summer.

Which also looks like no lane restrictions until Fall, if I'm reading it correctly. Am I?

Thanks!

they usually narrow the lanes with Jersey barriers so the workers are as safe as possible. Lane restrictions happen.. Its not normal for them to announce every one.. I would avoid Friday nights at any cost. The traffic is slow even without construction and I have checked Google Maps to see some 20 mile stop and go traffic. According to the website at night there will only be one to two lanes open

MORE IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE A BIG RIG

Between Memorial Day and Columbus Day, and during all national holidays, there will be three lanes open in each direction as usual, but the lanes will be narrower, and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. At night, the bridge will be down to one or two lanes in each direction. The contractor will be assessed penalty fees for any lane closures outside of what been agreed upon.
