Pedernalles Falls (Austin, TX)

I just booked for 2/10/15-2/15/15 at Pedernalles State Park near Austin, TX for these dates...Anyone have any recommendations while we are there. I have to attend the Public Utility Commission (PUC) Hearing on 2/11/15 thanks to my wife, or as I refer to her as my Community Activistist! So I guess I get another camping trip out of the deal...so all is good for me! I know that I want to go to Deep Eddy's Vodka Distillery! We will be there for "Bury the Lines" in Frisco, TX.

Bookemdanno,

I stayed there for 5 nights over Thanksgiving, and found PFSP to be a beautiful park with absolutely huge sites. It was my first time there, and I wasn't really looking for adventures; just spending some time on the road while waiting for my December 1st reservation at my winter home. I did notice a few wineries in the area, though. The park has some very nice hiking trails, a ton of deer, and you have to go see the falls.

Hope you have a great stay!

Thanks for the info. Brownie! We've never stayed there before either. The last time I stayed near Austin was at McKinney Falls SP. Thanks again!

You have 6th street if you are looking for night life. Lots of live music and food.

Lake Travis, Barton Creek, Deep Eddy, etc. All great places to hang out.

The capital if you must.

If you are a barbecue fan I personally find the Salt Lick at Driftwood (sw of Austin) a favorite.

If you have any interest in WWII history, the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg is not to be missed. If you go, allow plenty of time. It's big and very well done. Fredericksburg is the hometown of Chester Nimitz. East of Fredericksburg is the LBJ ranch which can be toured including the interior of most of the ranch house.

Hope that you enjoy your stay and are treated well while you are here.

I will definitely have to give this place a try! Thanks for the suggestion.

I concur with you about the WWII museum! We stayed down in Fredericksburg 2 years ago at the Jelly Stone. We visited WAY too many wineries when we were there!

I can't thank everyone enough for your input! It helps me with the planning.
