Can anyone offer their opinion about the Thousand Trails campgrounds memberships? Thank you.

Hmmm...

Googled Thousand Trails Reviews:

No personal experience but how hard is it to sell the membership when you no longer use it?

Well, my in-laws had the old thousand Trails membership from back in the late 90's. Intent was to retire and travel. But, unfortunately my father-in-law passed from prostrate cancer. When my in-laws signed up for the membership, they were smart enough to include their kids names so.... My wife and I were able to use it. Limited to the number of places we could go, but enjoyed going back to some of them.
However, the price kept going up every year.
Finally it cost my mother in law over 1600 every year. We said forget it. She wrote thousand trails a letter stating she wanted to cancel the membership and was not going to pay another dime. She never heard from them.

Be aware though. This is a first come, first served so the reservations only allow you a campsite (maybe), (I have seen people camp in the parking lot as that was all that was left). You get there on a Wednesday or Thursday you might get a good site, otherwise you go out to the garbage sites with only electric and water. (Some were real mud holes).
