Valley of the Gods in June

Some questions for folks who have visited/stayed there before.

I realize the temperatures at the Valley of the Gods, in June, are up in the 90's normally. I presume, being in the desert, the temperatures fall pretty far, maybe into the 60's at night.

If these assumptions are correct, would it be possible to stay there a couple of days and nights?

I know you can stay on the BLM land in the Valley of the Gods. Since that area is pretty isolated, is there any problems with leaving your TT unattended? Most of the days we would be out and about in our truck. Would the trailer still be there when I got back?

I’ve stayed in VOTG many times over the past years, although not in the last two or so. I’ve stayed there in both tent and camper.

You’re right - very isolated, but that’s part of its incredible beauty.

I never had any problems with theft.

June? Probably hot, but not like it would be later on in the year.

My longest time there was four nights.

PS: I would not enter or leave the valley with your camper from the north side. The dugway, as I recall, is very long and twisting (take a look at it on Google Maps).

I hope you have a great adventure there, and would really like to see your post on it after you return!

Safe travels.

Definitely would not be coming via the Dugway.

I was originally going to Monument Valley, but then found out about VoTG.
But due to the possible heat factor, had decided to go to Zion NP

Unfortunately, all the campgrounds are full inside and just outside the NP.

So, I've turned my attention back to VoTG inspite of the heat of June.

Gooseneck state park, which is very near VotG, has areas for dry camping. It is a fee area but does have picnic tables and pit toilets.

Too bad about Zion, but that’s the way it is in the summer, and for a lot of the year besides.

Interesting thing about dmac’s recommendation about Gooseneck; I just took a look at it on Google Maps and it appears to have been considerably upgraded since I was there several years ago.
