Virginia Trip

We live in northwest Indiana and are thinking of making a fall trip to Shenandoah National Park, Monticello, and driving the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Does anyone have any recommended campgrounds, sites to see, or any other advice for that trip? I figure I better start making campground reservations...and hope I am not too late!

We've been down the Blue Ridge on a motorcycle twice, but stayed in motels just off it in towns. There's a strict 45 mph speed limit on most of it, with areas as low as 25 and 35 mph. You can't be in a hurry on that road. Many, sights to look at, and the scenery is fantastic on a nice day. It's a blast on a Goldwing, but I don't remember seeing many campers or motorhomes. Here's something to read about the journey.

We just came through there last week. We stayed at the Harrisonburg/Shenandoah Valley KOA just off of I-81. I'm not sure how full it gets in the fall but it was pretty empty last week.
We took a day and visited Luray Cavern which was one exit north. Luray also has a KOA but was closed.

Plenty of caves in the area if you're into that.

The Skyline Drive and Natural Bridge are also in the area.
Gettysburg in PA is also not to far away.
