Boondocking: How/where do you dump?

I was going through the boondocking photo thread. I love the scenery, as well as the peace and quiet. I want to be able to do some boondocking as we travel (retiring next year!) and I was thinking through the logistics. I will pick up a 100w panel and a 2000w Honda/Yamaha. I already installed the Micro-Air - I figured a lower A/C inrush current had to help with power surges in the electrical system.

We find that we get about 5-6 days before the gray water tanks need to be emptied and at some point the black water gets really bad. Even if you put a bunch of "blue stuff" down the toilet.

Where do you typically dump? Find a campground? Truck stop?

I think most campgrounds will let you dump, though there may be a few. A lot of Flying J truckstops have RV lanes for fuel and many include dumpstations.

Black tank "should" allow about 10-14 days unless it is extremely hot with 2 people.

Campground, Truck stop or even some municipalities allow dumping at their waste water plants. Even a few states still have dumps at rest.areas. Here's a list..

I use a Flying J dump location as mentioned above. Also, I have a portable waste tote that I use to dump our grey water at home when needed.

I carry extra hose and a pump.... in the middle of the night before I leave get ready to go, hook my TT to my TV, I hook my septic hose up from my RV to the next nearest RV (any one will do, TT, class A, C etc), open both valves and pump my black tank into theirs, close the valves and take off out of there very fast...
lol

In Michigan if you have the Annual Passport you can dump free at any State Park that may be along your route.

Also, I've found that boondocking in the National Forests in Michigan (lower & upper) there is usually a dump station in the general area (behind party store, local gas station, county park, etc.).

The National Forest CG that I'm presently camping at has a dump station..., but no electricity.

The state parks we stay at has dump stations, if they dont you can use dump stations at other state parks in that same state. Cabelas has one not sure if Bass Pro shop has one. waste treatment plants may have one as they do in our town
