Where to fill up water?

Family and I are looking at a first trip dry camping in the forest near Williams, AZ. We learned earlier this summer that our truck (2008 Ford F-150 5.4 Triton) does not do well towing with our 2015 Jayco White Hawk's fresh water full (48 gals).

So my question is where can a RVer find sources of fresh water at a particular destination? I'd like to drive to Williams, fill up with water and hit the forest for a few days.

Thanks

Some Flying J locations have rv dump facilities and may or may not have a potable water source.

How much water can you comfortable travel with? I always travel with a good bit of water that said I travel to the area or within 200 miles and fill my water tank before boondocking. That means paying for a nights stay or paying for the water. I have gone to the mountains and more than once encountered little or no water available. Many rural fire stations will allow you a couple of gallons a day which only covers what you will drink. Many dump stations do not have potable water believe them when they say don't drink the water.

Try calling the forest ranger station you check in at and ask if water is available there or nearby.

Any nearby private campgrounds will sell you some water and let you dump for a fee on the way back.

Some towns also have public dump and fill stations available.

Actually many of the campgrounds in the Williams area haul water in, and will not allow "outsiders"' to purchase from them.

We use to carry those collapsible water jugs. 6 of them. If you have cargo capacity then fill them and put them in the back of the truck. If not then setup camp then go get water. Where you get it depends on the area. Sometimes we'd have to drive 20 miles to get it. One of the hazards of dry camping in the back woods.
