We've got sites booked all along the way and are excited to make this journey because we all know its the journey and not the destination!

If you'd like, hit me with advice, things you wished you'd taken into consideration, suggested check list of pre trip/post trip inspections (other than kick the tires & check lights) etc...

We'll be able to travel w/out much water however my concern is limiting the family and the amount of stuff we haul. I like to be as light as possible!

Our trip will be 7 different stops from 1 night to 4 per state. We've only had the camper on one weekend trip away from home and are planning one more before we head west!
Well I asked my wife and my two grown kids ( if when they were in high school ) would any of you take a 3,500 mile road trip and will do it in 12 days. They looked at me as if I was crazy and all said "NO", will end up really not seeing or experience anything.
They felt In the span of just 1,000 miles in any direction there's just so much to
see and do that it still wouldn't be enough time to see what's around that next bend.
Have a safe drive and enjoy every day.

I didn't look back and see if I had mentioned this before but our family is used to this trip, just never w/ a camper! We drove to Rapid City SD from NY a few years back...We've been doing this trip with a car and less stops since my 15 yr old was 3 yrs old. Been doing the trip myself in a pick up all the way back to 1999.

The last trip was SC to NY 14 hrs in the pick up just stopping for breaks. So to stop, camp and see sights along the way is a bonus for them!

Its all relative.

Just put some extra air in the tires & got some safety triangles at the shop and will be loading everything up tonight! Headed out in the AM.

I'll try to update every few days.

Besides traffic slowing us by almost two hours day one was perfect! Truck and trailer ran great, kids were great until a standstill on the interstate but we can’t control that!

Keep trucking!

Day 2 was great! Less traffic and hit a scale, less weight than I expected which is always good. Tomorrow may be a bit long so I gave one kido an option of changing things and she said no, not a problem!

Spoke too soon! Water leaks!

Not sure if it was a pressure issue or what but just had to tighten the connection under the sink, then the pump kept kicking on and found water under the bathroom sink. Mess of tubing down there and I don’t have the tools to fix...plans are a gonna change for tomorrow!

We had a leak underneath the bathroom sink a few months ago. The bad, we lost all our TP. The good, the TP soaked up all the water Our leak turned out to be the drain. Hope your leak is an easy fix!

So it was a simple fix however had to go 1.5 hours to find a shop to help. Gotta get some tools so I can do myself... We headed west and are now going to take two easy days to get to Nebraska. It’s been an amazing adventure!

Note to self, don’t rush to pack camp and leave, you forget important things, plugging the trailer into the TV!

What tools did you need? Was it a PEX tubing leak or what?

Connectors on pex. I’ll be shopping soon! Saw a few other things at sites around that I’ll be investing in!

One thing that is driving me nuts is the gray water valve doesn’t close all the way or something, every time I open the cover to connect hose there is water. One guy told me there is another valve I can put on that will keep me from getting dirty until I can get it into the shop.

All the little things aside, it’s been an amazing trip so far! We are in Paxico, KS and they make homemade pizza and deliver it to your site!

I plagiarized a copy of the attached document from a guy on the Grand Design forum so I am sure it is geared a little toward Grand Design but it may help you a little in shopping for plumbing tools and spare parts.
