any concerns for buying RV that is dealer stock only?

any concerns for buying an RV that is dealer stock only? The whole model (all floorplans) is discontinued by manufacturer.

Nope.. Nothing about the warranty or components change.

No concerns and you might get a good deal seeing as they probably want to make room on their lot. You still get the full manufacturers and individual component warranties.

We bought a 2018 31DS new and glad we did. It is the perfect layout for the two of us. Has the hall down the side which makes the bathroom roomy. They changed the floor plan in 2019 models. Lost some of the cabinet space in kitchen area and room in the bathroom when they added bunk bed slide out in the 2019.

Components change??? Yeah, they'll change. They'll change as in you'll be screwed later down the road if you need something because they wont make it anymore. Back in August my wife, with the help of mother nature's wind, customized our entry door with a hole in it. We still haven't heard back from Jayco about getting a new door. I had to fix it myself and our trailer is a 17. We are also waiting on getting a new graphic sticker for it too. Like I said, the door issue I fixed, the sticker I have a feeling I'm gonna be fixing that myself too. Come spring I'm taking it to a shop that can handle something this size and have some touch up painting done and will have that graphic sticker replaced by paint. I'll also be looking into how much it would cost to peel all the stickers off and have them painted and clear coated instead.

Some RVs are just sitting in the dealer lot for too long. They are not parked indoor or covered. Should concern about sun/water damage to the RVs on the lot? How long is too long in the open lot? 3 months, 6 months?

X2...I would also insist on new batteries just to make sure the ones on the trailer aren't dead from sitting too long without charging.

Also look at all of the seals if it's been sitting a long time with the slideout(s) extended.

I bought a 2016 in Feb 2018. It sat outside for two years on a gravel/dirt lot. I took about 9" of packed dirt out of the tongue jack pipe since no wheel was installed on it while it sat. The tires were date coded Nov 2015. I just finished my third season of camping with over 11,000 miles over those three years. No failures of any type except for a smelly Dometic 100 toilet (I'm on my third toilet - all under warranty). I'm changing out the tires next year though for a trip out west (from Michigan) even though they look great only because they're China originals and will be 5-1/2 years old by then. They put a new battery in upon purchase.

We bought our Jayco several months into the next years model. It had been on the lot for at least 6 months. It was discounted to sell and we had already looked at it 6 months earlier. It was less $$ than the one we wanted and a little longer and more roomy.

Nine years later it still meets our needs and we have never had any real problems.

This past june I bought a 2018 264bh. Paid 2018 price for it. I feel lucky the deal was done before the dealers started selling faster than they could replace inventory. A couple of small issues that I expected on a new unit, but still stayed in it 17 nights this summer/fall.

It's too late for me to edit my post (#8) but the dealer took $10k off the $26,200 sticker price, threw in a hitch, a patio rug, chemicals, a sewer hose, a water hose and... a pack of toilet paper.

Models and floorplans come and go all the time. Especially the ones that don't sell as well as others. Case in point, the DW and I went to an RV show back in 2012, and decided we wanted to buy a model of Starcraft TT. Found out the one we were looking at was sold, and the model discontinued, since it made up a low percentage of the overall sales. That's when we found out Jayco owned Starcraft, and they made that floorplan. Jayco continued to make it for 4 more years.

I would have no problem buying one however depending on how long it was sitting on the Dealers lot I would go up on the roof and check all the caulking. The dealer is supposed to check it every six months ,yeah right!

So there is not much damage caused by Sun/rain according to responses above. Actually RVs are exposed to Sun/rain when we are camping. no difference from sitting on dealer's lot, right?

We still have the first RV we ever owned. It's now 56 years old. I don't know how long it sat on the dealer's lot, but its sat in our backyard for a loooooong time now.

Today the typical Rver only keeps stuff for a few years, and then moves up to bigger and better. Its not how long it sat on the yard, its how many miles it had to endure to help it fall apart.

The ones built these days fall apart as they roll down the assembly line.

I believe (but could not prove) buying a 2018 near the end of year exacerbated my front cap fading. It sat on a dealer lot, apparently without any paint protection.

Since you bought it, what have you done to protect the paint?>
