Anyone relocate, or try to relocate medicine cabinet??

In our White Hawk 27DSRL, the medicine cabinet is mounted a bit too high for my DW's liking. She can barely see the top of her head in the mirror.

So I check it out and see the obvious screws holding it to the wall. I'm thinking, give me a few minutes and I'll have that lowered right to where she needs it. So I remove the screws, only to discover that the bottom shelf is attached to the wall in some way by a hidden method. Not wanting to break something, I thought I would inquire here to see if anyone else has tried this same thing, and possibly could offer me some insight.

Thanks,
Greg

There may be a false bottom. See if you can remove the bottom piece of plywood inside the cabinet (probably stapled). Once you get that out you will probably find the bottom screws. The usually install the cabinet and then put in the bottom for just that reason, makes it look better.

The problem you may have is you may not find a backer in the wall to re-attach the cabinet if you set it lower.

Thanks Grumpy! I think you may be on to something. I can feel something behind the shelf when I slide a knife blade in there.

We have some decorative shelves at home that came from Hobby Lobby, or some such place, and they attach to the wall with a hidden screw set-up. The screws are run into the wall to a very precise depth. The shelf has a little bracket countersunk on the back edge with a corresponding hole on one end of a slot that barely fits the head of the screw. Then the slot allows one to slide the shelf until the screw bottoms out in the slot. If the screw depth is just right, shelf fits very nicely to the wall. I was thinking it might be something like that.

Just don't want to see DW twist an ankle when she forgets momentarily that she's using a step stool so she can do her hair and makeup.
