birds roosting on ladder
This may seem a bit silly, but we are plagued, yes plagued, with birds roosting on the top bars of our roof ladder and leaving their calling cards all down the rear of the camper. Constant cleaning is getting a little old. We have tried a whirlygig, and a fake owl on a post nearby, but no change in the situation. Does anyone out there have the same problem, and maybe a solution ?

How about tying a few helium balloons to the top of the ladder?

That's an idea. Will try it, as soon as I can find some helium. We live in rural area, so don't know yet where some is available.

Walmart carries a small bottle in the party items section. Not sure of the price.

A 12 guage shot gun should take care of the problem. Just don't miss low or it could get expensive.

Try some duct tape wrapped around the rungs sticky side up.

OK - y'all have a lot of good suggestions, except the 12 gauge. I don't think I'll need one of those - my rifle should do the trick. As a firm believer in gun control (defined as the ability to hit what you are aiming at), the rifle should take care of the problem, one bird at a time. The only other problem is the mess that will be created in the process. And the DW really doesn't want the grandchildren to see that.
So I'll try your suggestions one at a time, and see what works. Thanks everyone !
