I know the national parks will shut down. Would this include U.S. Army Corp of Engineer parks as well?

One of the main impacts is the adverse mental effects of all the government employees!

Many years ago Parks Canada went on strike, which included the park attendants. So they weren’t collecting any fees. We took advantage of that, and with a vehicle pass that we borrowed, we camped in a national park campground for about half of what it would cost us normally. We still had to do the online reservation and pay for the site, but no entrance fees or anything. The park was still open.

It seems like what they should do is open the gates, lock all the facilities that can/need to be locked and let people enjoy the park on their own.
I guess that could cause some problems though...
I remember seeing pictures of signs last time they did this that had locked gates saying the parks were closed. I don't recall hearing or reading anything about people who were staying in the park being removed, but I guess that wouldn't surprise me. I'd be kinda mad if I were staying there with family on vacation and I was asked to leave because of the shutdown. Especially since to get to any national park worth staying at takes days of driving and months of planning from where I am.

From what I just heard at the press conference it may not affect camping. There's a list out there, of course he didnt say were, that lists what is goin to be affected during this shut down if it happens. They said it will not be like the last administration's shut down

The Host at the Holtville HotSprings LTVA said they may have to chain the gate .. I wonder how that will go over in Quartzsite as the Big Tent starts this weekend.

They said on the news today they would definitely be closing all national parks and campsites. I know with the last one here in Washington they were arresting and fining people who "trespassed" onto closed park lands, it was pretty bad.

Holtville LTVA along with the big tent look like a gathering for the homeless, what a depressing campground.

They are supposed to be pictures of a shutdown sign That's what I get when I click on it. But the same pics are available in the older shutdown thread from 2013, post 56.

Last time this happened, we were locked out of the Smokies. .. gates across road and men with guns. People in the park were told to leave.
And somebody came round to padlock the trash cans....
