Camping in Louisiana

Hello
My wife and I are planning on spending a month in Louisiana next February. We have a Jayco Greyhawk 29MV motorhome. We are looking for a park or parks to stay in for a week or two at a time. We prefer state parks but also would like to be near towns or places to site see. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Here's a place a friend told me about, but I have not visited yet. 45 minutes outside of New Orleans. Looks nice.

We like Indian Creek in Woodworth LA. It's located in central Louisiana. In February you will get the discounted rate as well. Nice lake clean campgrounds. Some sights are more level than others and you can book online. Not full hook ups.

that's carnival time

I suspect you are planning your trip to experience Mardi Gras, February 13th next year. Carnival season general begins two weeks before Fat Tuesday, so there are plenty of parades to see leading up to the big day. If so, I recommend you decide on a location and booked a site asap. I suggest Fountainebleau SP in Mandeville Louisiana. Located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain it is less than an hour from the excitement of New Orleans yet still a relaxing CG. The town near the park has lots of shopping and good places to eat. Click image for larger version

Lake Bistinaeu State Park is nice for viewing local wildlife. Lots of Cypress trees.

North Toledo Bend SP on our side of the state. No sewer, but all sites are 30/30/50 amp and water. Very well kept park. Cypress Bend is also ok, though not a SP. Full hookups there.
