Exclamation Caution: Hitch Bracket Welds

I would inspect the receiver "mounting brackets" for questionable weld integrity located on the rear frame of your FW, TT, etc.. The "bracket" weldments are installed by Jayco for attaching an optional (Cargo) Accessory Receiver Hitch.

I don't have a receiver on the rear of my TT, but if I did my brackets would be re-welded properly......, I wouldn't trust these 3 little 'tack' welds.........

That's all we had on the PINNACLE and never had any problem. I think one reason the welds are limited is so the hitch isn't used for towing.

Not all welds are created equal...., lesson learned during 35 years in the metal fabrication industry.

Now you got me to thinking of what the welds on my northpoint look like. If they look like a boogered up garbage like those, I'll fix it with some good old fashioned overkill. Lol!
I use mine to carry our bikes on a bike rack I built. The last thing I need is $2000 in bikes strewn all down the road.
