Cleaning rubber around doors

Wondering if anybody has had any luck removing the black scum on the white moldings around the door and compartment doors? I tried a mix of vinegar and water, some came off but not all! Any ideas? And yes I tried looking on you tube ...no luck there! lol Also what works on algae?

Sounds like your are describing what is known as black streaks.

I use ether "Simple Green" or "Spray Power" both products removed black streaks. I personally like Spray Power better but am having a hard time finding it lately.

I think you're talking about the insert trim around the door that covers the screws. I tried everything to clean mine and ended up just replacing it. The cost was about $12 for a 25ft roll, enough to do both my doors. I went with the 3/4'' and it looks great. Just Google RV vinyl insert trim if you're interested in replacing it.

Meguires cleaner wax will remove some/most of the "scum" you reference. It also removes tar, tree sap, etc., with just a bit of elbow grease. Comes in a purple colored can at wally world, the stuff in the bottle is just as good, but I prefer the paste.

Way back when the windows had white rubber trim, the best way to get rid of it was to buy a new camper. When they changed to black trim, you could no longer see it. Problem solved.

Now days, they have no trim? Is this progress or what?

Magic eraser may work. I have had good luck removing scuff marks from my boat using them.
