Unhappy Dumb A$$ Ice cream shop was open, I ordered 2 scoops!

Argh, where do I begin?
We just finished a great outing with our neighbors (a non-Jayco guy). He had 1 small issue en-route requiring replacing a wheel bearing but we sorted that out easily enough.
Me, on the other hand, I hadda ask for 2 scoops.
First issue was at the CG and I'm hooking up the water. The Bride says there's no water at the tap. Why could that be? Off/on/off/on, hmmm no water. Maybe the back flow is stuck shut...... Why is there too much water in the toilet bowl? I pushed the pedal and get a small geyser. Yup, I connected the water supply to the black flush. Hey, it's an honest mistake, one's right above the other. I expect I'll not be making that mistake again.

So, on to the second scoop...... Headed home and it's time for a fuel stop. To hit the diesel pump I have to make a sharp U-turn.
BAM!! Back window explodes. Yup, shoulda got the slider. So here I am at the computer spilling my guts to you good folks and waiting for the insurance company to call.

Fortunately damage is pretty minor, small dent in the cab and surface scratches on the front cap, oh yeah, there is that missing window.

So the moral of the story is: make sure EVERYTHING gets a label. And you folks pulling with a short-bed and no slider - be careful!

Wow, I sure feel smarter than I did last Thurs morning anyway, that's how I'm telling the story.

Second moral: if you see the DA Ice Cream shop, DON'T STOP.

We were out camping years ago and my uncle did the U-turn trick with his 5ver and had the same damage.

I wish I could claim that as an excuse but no, not the first time. We've owned the 5th since Feb and this was our 3rd outing in it and we had the X23B for a bit over 2 yrs. I just blame it on the 2 scoops.

Hey, it happens.... really. You'd be hard pressed to find an RV'er who hasn't had these learning experiences. As time goes on, you'll not only learn from your own experiences, but learn from others like those on this (and other) forums. Look on the bright side, personal injury wasn't involved!

Sorry you had the experience none the less.

I once read, while researching long vs short bed trucks and slider hitches, that if you turn too tightly you could "get glass all over the dog". That was enough of a mental picture for me to decide on longbed.

We had a little problem years ago at Jackson Lake when driving around one of the loops, a trailer's awning was a little close to the roadway and I didn't pay enough attention and knocked out the escape window in the driver's side of our FW. It's amazing how a little duct tape works with some plastic, at least when parked and camping. Didn't work so well at 65-70 mph while going home. Silly things like that happen to most of us, at least once.

Here is an ironic thing on the black water flush. I have 2 one on each side of the unit and the one on the outside wall is "black" while the one in the water control box is "white". HELLOOO!! Obviously they make them in black so why not make it black. It's a black tank flush. I swear sometimes the guys making these things do not or have not ever owned one! It's the simple things that get you frustrated.

Oh yeah and I nicked my tailgate edge cover off on my first disconnect! Another 1/8 and it was going to be creased. You only make mistakes like that once.

"all over the dog", yes, that's just how it happened. Cookie the wiener dog was NOT pleased.

LOL...hope the black tank was empty when the geyser hit!

Just think about all the great campfire stories you're racking up!
