dump black tank at home
does anyone dump the residual liquid in black tank at home. we clean our tank thoroughly at cg then add dawn with several gallons of water to slosh around during trip home and leave it in for next trip. I would like to empty tank at home but where? can't be more that 5 gal in tank, can I empty on my property?

If it's your property, I'm sure you can do anything you like. You may be limited to such action in subdivisions or city limits. I would be more concerned about the odor and contamination to areas where I may have a garden or a play area for kids. I presume that you would be attempting to dump it in what I might refer to as the pucker brush where human activity probably doesn't take place. In that case, since it's a diluted form of what you got rid of at the campground, I would probably do the same thing.

Macerator pump and you can empty tank through a garden hose into a sewer clean out at your house.

we are in a small town rural area with back facing an open field and bordered by trees. homes on either side. I can not imagine it being an issue. will try it for first time and report back. use a lot of dawn dish soap in tank along with biodegradable chem. the dawn greatly reduces the odor when dumping at cg.

That's what we do. Macerator to a driveway drain. (It connects to the sewer system, NOT the city storm drains). Works great!

Why do you want to totally drain it? In our previous 5ver, we were told to put at least 10% water back into the tank as well as the chemical. We also add Dawn after each dump. An empty tank will still smell - yes, ours was emptied accidentally. What about the water in the toilet bowl?

since the contents have been sloshing around during the drive home I want to clean out anything that is left in the tank. I will then add dawn and several gallons of water back into the tank and let is sit ready for next trip

I do it at my place, we have a two tank septic system, so i dump the black/gray tank into the first tank. easy to remove concrete top. just enough to get hose in it. Its a newer system . 2014. Two concrete tanks, the second takes the liquid and has a cleanable filter that prevents solids from getting into the leach field. Just be sure you understand what tank to dump into.

LOL-Not probably but certainly. It is considered HazMat but I did not take his comment as dumping it on the surface.
