First long trip in the making...Banff

Friends of ours in Green Bay want us to meet them this June in Banff. It will be to celebrate their Anniversary and the 'guys' birthdays...both on the 18th.

They are driving (car...not campers) and we will go up from Reno with our new Pinnacle and will be the first long haul for the 5ver. We'll have some trips of 200+- from our home base in the log book by then and will be comfortable.

Looking at Tunnel Mt. Trailer Court and wondering if anyone has been there or other suggestions.

We stayed at Tunnel Mountain in 2002.

I would love to camp there again.

Here are a few pictures:

I wish we were going. when you drive through the Canadian Rockies just look around and it is like a post card every where you look. Including the mirrors.

Tunnel Mtn is the only full hookup campground in Banff... I stay in Banff & Jasper every year for a while... the "primitive" campgrounds are not really set up for long trailers.... anything over 25' is pushing it....

The provincial campsites are nice. The rangers would put on seminars in the evenings at the ones we stayed at. I remember staying in banff when I was a child. I was horrified to see what the federal government had done to it. Progress in some people's eyes I guess. All the natural beauty is still there, just way too commercialized. It wouldn't hurt to brush up on your Japanese.

If you have time a trip up to Jasper is well worth while, it is not as commercialized as Banff and has some beautiful lakes (even one you can swim in which is amazing for mountain lakes)

Further to that, when you are finished in Banff continue west through the mountains to the Shuswap Lake in BC. It is one of the most beautiful lakes around and lots of campgrounds.
