Fresh Water Supply Hose Question

"Silver Bullet" Pocket Hose...do any of you see a problem with using it as your water supply to the camper? Do they hold up to the constant pressure (while using a pressure regulator of course) as your main water supply for days or weeks at a time? Thank you in advance for your posted comments.

I surly would NOT. First, I don't know if they're drinking water safe. Second, the "collapsible hoses" have a tendency to burst, fairly frequently, if left under pressure for a long time (not sure what's "long") in sunny conditions. Third, if it does leak, rupture, or blow a fitting off, there's no way to repair it, unlike a conventional RV hose. Forth, if you have to keep replacing them, they're not cost efficient.
For some reason, we carry three 25', two 10', and one 4' FW hose. Not sure how we accumulated so many, but we'll never come up short to the water spigot!

I tried out one of those Zero G hoses a few weeks ago. Labeled as drinking water safe and certainly intended for the RV world. It lasted less than 3 seconds. Connected hose and turned on the park water. The end connecting to the RV blew out. It was like it was not even crimped to the hose. Yes I have a 50 lb pressure reducer. Back with my normal, drinking water white hose now.

We say a guy using one of those green pocket hoses last week at the dump station to use the black tank flush. The hose blew a couple holes in it as soon as he turned the water on. He unhooked it and took it over to the dumpster.

I've been using the Zero G hose for about six months and have had no problems. They are different then the run of the mill collapsible hoses. They don't expand length wise, just the width. Very easy to store.

I used my Zero G to water and left it on at full pressure overnight more than once, No problem. The ease of use and folding into a bucket is so handy I added one to my trailer for regular use. I also have the old white one in there in case I need more length.

PS 5 year guarantee. I stapled my Lowes receipt to the card and toss it into a drawer with all my other guarantees.

Yes it is drinking water safe but we never drink or cook from tank water. Gallon jugs of bottled water are cheap compared to catching a bug from bad water.

Drinking water safe? Yes. This is what I bought that did not last.

I bought my Zero-G water hose from CW last year and I leave it hooked and under pressure for the entire camping trip with no problems. I take care not to step on it and I put any excess hose under the FW so no one else steps on it. I find that "pocket" hoses do not fair well if stepped on or driven over. I also use cheap black pocket hose from Home Depot to connect to my black tank flush. It is definitely not as good a quality as the Zero-G but I don't have it under pressure all the time and the color makes it easy not to mix up with the drinking side of the connection. I also try (not always) to turn the water off at the campground faucet if we are going to be gone from the site for any length of time. I do that regardless of what type hose I use. I have heard too many horror stories of folks coming back to flooded RVs because they spring a leak inside. Also turn off water pump and water heater when I leave the site if dry camping.

I hope you returned your Zero-G hose and got a replacement. Sounds like your hose unfortunately had a defect. The next one may have been perfect.

I’ve switched all my hoses to Zero G, house and now RV. Their warranty is awesome. Had one at home with a bad fitting and they overnighted be a new one once I cut the hose and emailed proof. Can’t beat the customer service let alone for 5 years.

Bought a 25’ and 50’ for in the RV. Been out once and it was hooked up under pressure for 6 days no issues.

The only problem I experienced with my Zero G hose was that I left it hooked up all summer last year. Because the couplings are aluminum and my silcock is brass, they froze together. It is good to periodically disconnect the Zero G hose from all connections.
