Top Sail is great. We are booked for March. Better to plan ahead and make reservations early!

We have a small, out-of-the way State park, Oscar Scherer SP, which is maybe less than 15 minutes from here (Sarasota), so that's often our "go-to" spot for an impromptu getaway.

Further North, we really like Stephen Foster SP, up near the Georgia line, We often make that an overnight stop, when we're on our way back from longer trips.

I too live in Florida. We're heading to texas after Christmas. Doing some volunteer work in Rio Grand City.

If I was to look for last minute places in Florida, I'd call the main number for Sun RV Resorts. They have a bunch of places in florida. I've stayed at a couple of them and was pleased.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Unfortunately everything I checked out was booked or only had a day here and there. Hazzards of our great weather and winter guests. We usually leave our camper all summer at the beach. The owner of the site has winter renters. On a chance I called her. She had a renter Nov and Dec and a new one coming in Jan6 - Apr. The Dec one called and was going home early for Christmas. So I have the spot the week after Christmas. Yay - as she said, it was meant to be. I am going plan out some fall trips and book now at some of the suggestions!
