That's right, one of my biggies for that decision

Reading all these posts have really got me bummed out now.....I try not to read too much into things but now a little concerned about these new frames. My next Jayco was going to be a 2012 or 2013 Eagle 313 but am now thinking with all the QC problems in the 2011's and 2012's, PLUS now the frame issue, I am considering looking for a clean 2009 or maybe 2010 (if I can find one as well cared for as my 2008). Is the Lippert conversion exclusive to the new 2012's or are older ones included?

Dan,

Lippert purchased Dexter Chassis in August of 2011.

Only a call to Jayco can confirm if a particular "new" model unit has a frame coming out of a Lippert plant, or the Dexter Chassis plant now operating under the Lippert name. It is entirely possible that Jayco is still receiving the frames from the Dexter plant under the original Jayco specifications, with the only difference being it has the Lippert logo on the frame.

Not enough "factual" information available to know what the Lippert purchase really means at this point.

Bob

dg, according to the link the buyout did not occur until August 2011, well after the 2012`s were out, and undoubtedly there were unused prebuilt frames still in the pipeline after that date. I`m also thinking very little will change at least in the near future. I would not let this bum me out, not yet anyway.

It seems Bob and I had pretty much the same thought, at the same moment!

Thanks, guys....I have been a head-over-heels Jayco fan ever since spending the previous 20 years researching all the RV's and choosing Jayco over all of the rest. I know, as we all do, there have been some minor QC issues with the most recent models but just can't imagine this company putting an inferior frame under a quality RV. As I said, I am trying not to read too much into this. Time will tell.

I spent four years on the Montana Owners Forum. Nearly all of the frame failures were not from welds breaking but from the thin metal braces tearing. Travel trailers don't have the same stress issues that 5th wheels do. In four years I saw lots of pictures of pin area problems.

What exactly are you referring to? Could you be a bit more explicit as to what was done to the 2012s compared to the 2011s?
