Another thread just inspired this list. I put it here because I did not want to highjack the other thread.

My rankings for the vehicles I've owned:

1. Chevy, but it's not fair because it was a sweet '71 C10 I restored.
2. '72 Gran Torino 2dr, great car; 80s commute beast; wish I still had her.
3. The current 2012 Ram is the best of the newer ones. Very solid, virtually no trouble.
4. 1994 Ford Ranger, ran and loaded the crud out of her, great little truck.
5. 1991 Cadillac Sedan, smooth as butter, so nice on the freeway.
6. 2016 Chrysler 300, very decent car; really like it; it may move up (still driving it).
7. 2002 Ford Taurus - it wasn't great, but the ones that follow were that bad.
8. '88 Cadillac Limo - great fun when it ran.
9. 2003 Ford Ranger -- what a huge pile of junk and disappointment that tin can was.
10. 2007 Camry, for the money and hullabaloo, it deserves to be the worst with its 12 recalls, ridiculous oil burning, poor interior fit and finish, constant brake and hub issues, melting dashboard; I mean that thing was a heap! And it would be the worst if the VW Fox's heater worked; I thought it would be great; but I won't return to a Toyota lot; biggest disappointment in a car purchase I've had.

it would take me a while to list them all in order of ownership, 38 or 40 of them. My father was a dealer, and there was always something that came in that was cooler than what I had. If I kept one more than a year, it was special.

All I'll say is don't buy a '73 Vega, or a '75 Pacer. Just don't do it...

Good God! You two have had more vehicles than I've had underwear! Lol!
1. 2001 Yukon Xl. Bought it from my neighbor 4/03 with 17k on it. A few issues but nothing major and out of the ordinary. Still going strong, knock on wood!
2. 2015 Silverado 3500 Dmax. Barely has 22k on it. Maybe one minor warranty issue. One barely out of warranty issue but GM covered all parts and labor.
. 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins. Currently in restoration state w/165k on the clock. Molested the living crap out of it so any issues were my own doing. Before take apart it would keep up with mustang's and vettes. Once I get it together itll prolly liquify tires right off the wheels.
4. 1989 Ford Escort GT 1.9L HO. Sharp looking car, if it had wings I would have got it off the ground every time I drove it.
5. 1985 Chevy Chevette. What can you say?? It was my first car.
6. 2011 Silverado 3500 Dmax. In the shop with emissions issues and electrical gremlins more than it was on the road. Turd.
7. 1997 Silverado 1500. Winter beater. Owned it one season. Ate radiators like pez candy. I bought the first one and all the others (MANY) were auto parts store warranties. I could change one in literally 20 minutes I got so good at it.
8. 1993 Ford F150 XLT Lariat. Total dog pile from the day I bought it brand new. I hope it was turned into paperclips when i got rid of it.

There you have it, 32 years of vehicle ownership for me.

1 ‘96 Nissan King Cab XE V6. I put 90K miles on it. Sold it to my little brother who put another 100K on it as a knock around truck. My nephew is now driving it. That thing has had a single alternator replaced, and regular maintenance. Still runs fine.
2 2014 Ram 2500 6.4. Couple recalls in the first year, and regular maintenance. Been towing heavy for 103K trouble free miles.(knock wood)
3 2010 Nissan Titan Crew Cab. Nothing wrong with this one, but nothing outstanding. Upgrade my travel trailer past it’s capacity and had to upgrade the truck.
4 1980 D-250. Lifted on 38s with a warmed up 440 big block. My first vehicle, and I was constantly tweaking on it. Got about 4 gallons to the mile.
5 08 Nissan Armada nothing spectacular and no issues.
6 01 Ram 1500. This thing never had a problem with the drivetrain, but all kinds of stupid crap broke. Dash cracked, heater core, power windows broke, switches falling off in my hand, cruise control buttons.
7 1993 Silverado this piece of crap ate transmissions like skittles. Intake manifold gasket issues multiple times. Noisy diffs. Multiple issues with the Heat and AC.

I should have kept a couple of these for sure but you know how that goes. You can see my trend, chevy v8 is the choice....not sure what happened with that Mercury ?The wife wanted it and I gave in. The one and only car I bought the extended warranty and it paid off for sure. .lol

63 Chevy Nova 3 on the column.. Blown engine after two years
68 Chevy Nova.. who thought a two speed auto was a good idea
73 AMC Matador.. Fill it up please and yessir I need my weekly fuel pump
75 Rabbit.. School Bus yellow.. Yes it burned rubber.. probably the only car of its size in the 70s that you could drag race in. Floor fell out after 200,000 miles
78 VW Bus.. It had more than 32 hp and had an actual heater. But the kids threw up all over it on the Blue Ridge Parkway
83 Pontiac Sunbird Wagon.. Five speed on the floor. Slick little wagon till teenage driver put it on top of a stone wall
85 Rabbit.. Great car till teen age driver blew the engine..
87 Fox.. nuff said.. What a joke and piece of crap
87 Pontiac 6000STE.. still a favorite car. Got stolen after 150,000 miles
91 Honda Accord. Great car and over 200K miles then someones van got airborne and it while sitting in a parking lot got pancaked
96 model of same.. OK but rusted out brake lines about 150 k
00 Tundra. Put 300,000 miles on it and then the recall for rusted frame right before we were going to buy a trailer led us to the
2012 Ridgeline.. 210k miles still going strong
new TT led us to 2021 GMC Canyon. I wonder why almost all pickups in Maine are GMC's. And the plethora of Foresters too..We had two of those a 01 and an 09. Neither had engine problems but at about 200K miles both had the ride of a Conestoga Wagon and the AC and other things did not work anymore.

It's hard to rank best to worst because I've never actually had a 100% perfect vehicle. And, I've had so many that they kind of blur together at this point. But, I'll list my top 5 favorites and even give you an absolute worst as a bonus.

1) '85 Blazer. It was actually a complete piece of junk, but it was the vehicle that helped me learn much of the mechanical and fabrication skills I have now. It had been totaled before I got it. It was stolen and partially stripped. I put it back together with whatever parts I could find and a very limited budget. 330K miles by the time I finally sent it down the road. It had been through 3 engines by then and was on its 4th. I used to keep a spare in the garage ready to swap in minus accessories. I had that swap down to approx 4 hours start to finish. You do the same thing enough times, you tend to get fast....LOL I would have actually kept it longer but it had rusted to the point that there wasn't much left to weld to.

2) My '79 C10. Still have this one. I've owned it the longest of all of my vehicles. It can sit for months at a time and all you do is pump the throttle twice and turn the key. It fires right off every time. It turns more heads than any vehicle I currently own.

3) 2001 Jeep Cherokee. 2nd new vehicle I ever purchased. We also had a 1995 Cherokee before this one that my wife unfortunately totaled. Anyway, I wish they still made them. 4.0L 6-cyl, auto trans, solid axles, great off road, and just enough equipment to make it comfortable without being complex. It was so well designed that it even had a drain plug on the transmission pan. I mean seriously, who makes a vehicle anymore actually designed to maintain? Unfortunately, the road salt here in PA finally finished it off in 2018.

4) 1970 Chevy Nova. It was silver with a black vinyl top and black vinyl buckets. 350 with a 3-speed Saginaw on the floor. I don't actually know how many 3-speed console cars were built, but looking back, it probably was fairly uncommon. Anyway, I got it from my aunt of all people in 1991 and kept it until '97 when I sold it to buy my Corvette. Nice car all around and I really should have kept it. It did need quarters and floor pans when I got rid of it. The guy I sold it to ended up painting it bright yellow. Not sure if it is still around or not.

5) 1987 Corvette. Still have this one. I got it in 1997 when it was 10 years old. Absolutely love the car. Most Corvette people shun the C4, especially the early ones like mine. But this thing just flat out handles. I don't drive it much, but really enjoy when I do. I still even take it to the track every once in a while.

OK..Bonus pick for the absolute worst vehicle we have ever owned. 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 318 with full time 4x4. We bought it used when my wife wrecked the '95 Cherokee mentioned above. This vehicle taught me the lesson of why you never buy a low mile used car that looks brand new. Absolute lemon from the time we brought it home. It was filled with electrical gremlins. The alarm system would activate while driving down the road flashing the headlights and blowing the horn. The gauge cluster would stop working only to turn back on when you hit the turn signals. The absolute best however was when it decided to roll the windows down on its own in the rain. We had taken it back to the selling dealer numerous times and they were never able to duplicate the problems. It finally went away when it decided to BBQ itself in a shopping center parking lot while my wife was shopping. "Attention JCPenney shopers. Would the owner of a red Jeep please report to the parking lot. It is on fire"......LOL

'86 dark blue Isuzu Trooper first took us to hinterlands of Utah's Canyon Country, loved that simple rig for 14 years
'96 grey 4Runner, the dream car that took us on hundreds of miles of back country trails before we sold it, running good as new, with ~250,000 miles on it - 4Runner is still my dream car
last 10-15 years bought cars to drive, nothing memorable or unique or special, but the Monte Carlo, Trooper, and 4Runner will always abide

In "approximate" order (though I'm sure I forgot one or two in there...):
1963 Austin-Healey Sprite set up for SCCA racing with roll bars and 5-point seat belts. Fun car! Sold it in '74 to my boss for almost 3X what I paid for it.
1974 Honda XL-175 Street Scrambler – Yeah, it's a motorcycle, but it was my "sole vehicle" until it was stolen the week I made the final payment on it. Broke my 18-year-old heart!
1968 VW Karman Ghia – Another fun car with surprising storage capacity when the back seat was folded down. Moved 3 times in college using that car.
1968 MG "B" - Gorgeous car with chrome spoke wheels with real knock-offs, metallic blue paint. Sold it because my then-current girlfriend couldn't drive a stick. BIG mistake (both the girl AND selling the "B").
1972 Ford Maverick - 6-cylinder. Only description I have is "Meh..." Sold it after an El Paso sandstorm literally stripped the paint down to bare metal on the half of the car that was "into the wind."
1976 Yamaha XS-500 – Yeah, another motorcycle. Put over 40,000 miles on it while stationed at Ft Bliss, TX – including 3 (three) round trips between El Paso, TX and Sevierville, TN (about 1400 miles each way). It was stolen about a week before I was transferred.
1976 Mazda GLC – My wife's car when I met her. Cute little car with the thinnest seats you've ever seen - yet somehow still reasonably comfortable. Great gas mileage!
1980 Mazda 626 Sedan – First new car we bought as a couple. I absolutely loved it (great power and handling), but DW did not like it at all – the dog (Airedale) didn't fit well in the back seat...
1980 Mazda 323 Wagon - A strange-looking wagon sold only for a few years. Very tall in the back, due to a "step-up" in the roofline. Decent ride and great gas mileage, and DW absolutely LOVED it, because our Airedale mutt could get in and out easily, and stand upright in the back. Kept it for years! Not much fun for me – holds the distinction of the slowest 0-60 time ever recorded in Car & Driver testing...
1967 VW Beetle - My daily driver in El Paso, TX after I left the Army. No heater, no A/C, but always started and drove great. Sold it when we moved to Houston (that's spelled HUMIDITY) to buy "something with A/C."
"Something with A/C" - car was so bad I can't even remember what it was. Cheap, ugly, bouncy ride American sedan. The A/C worked maybe half the time. Sold within a couple of months, and blanked it out of my memory! Can't even tell you what color it was...
1985 Honda Prelude – Cool car, but the back seat was a joke. Fun to drive, but impractical for a growing family.
1976 Honda Accord Hatchback – First year of the Accord, purchased well-used from DW's parents (65,000 miles). Great car, kept it for years. Surprising amount of room inside. After I put another 70,000 miles on it, I needed a bigger car for a growing family.
1984 Plymouth Voyager – Bought for DW as a Christmas present. We drove it for years until we replaced it with another new (bigger) minivan. Certainly not sexy, but a very practical vehicle for a family of five.
1988 Ford Taurus SHO – Probably my favorite car ever. Talk about a "sleeper"... Superb suspension and a very powerful V-6 engine (Yamaha tuned and optimized.) It looked like a generic family sedan, but would out-accelerate a Mustang GT-350 without seeming to work hard at all. First drive in the car I was accelerating onto the freeway, and glanced down to see I was already over 90 mph... Once had it up to 143 mph on a closed stretch of highway. The speed limiter kicked in at that point, or who knows how fast that car might have gone. Sold it (reluctantly) after we got rear-ended, damaging the frame. Would have bought another one, but they were no longer being made.
1990 Dodge Grand Caravan – Roomy and comfortable, but absolutely the WORST car we ever owned. Spent more time in the shop than in our driveway. Came very close to using the Lemon Law to force Chrysler to buy it back. Every time we went on a trip (Houston to El Paso multiple times per year), the A/C would fail within the first 100 miles. Me, DW, and 3 cranky kids in a non-air-conditioned car for 14 hours each way... Worst. Car. Ever.
1999 Mazda Millenia – First (and last) experience leasing a car. Car was comfortable, handled well, and I liked it a lot. For some reason, however, DW hated it, and just refused to drive or ride in it.
2002 VW Jetta Diesel – Great little car with fantastic fuel mileage. Drove it for two years, then gave it to my daughter to use in college. We bought another one just like it (used "program car") for the other daughter.
2004 VW Jetta Diesel – Yep, I bought another one. Eventually got an offer I could not refuse for it, so I sold it, thinking I would just replace it with a newer one. Sadly, I learned that VW discontinued the diesel for a few years because of emissions.
2004 Chevy 1500 Standard Cab Short Bed – Bought it for me, DW took it over <1 year into ownership.
2004 Mercedes SLK 240 – Returning to my "sports car" roots, this one was purchased used (off a 2-year lease). Loved the car, but sold it several years later after a senior mechanic at the dealership pulled me aside and told me the super-charger bearings were starting to go, and that the repair would cost $17,000 (parts + labor). Still nostalgic about that car, though even routine maintenance cost a fortune!
2009 VW Jetta Diesel – Loved the car, but then "Diesel-gate" came out. I was worried about the "detune" that was supposed to "fix" the emissions issues... When offered, we took the buyout.
2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 –
2014 Chevy Impala - We LOVE this car. Closest thing to the SHO, but even more comfortable and roomy. To date, we've put 88,000 trouble-free miles on it, and hoping for many, many more. It's irreplaceable, since the discontinued the Impala (and almost every other sedan)...
2015 Chevy Silverado HD 2500 (Diesel) - Fantastic truck and tow vehicle. 20-22 mpg in town, and 17-19 mpg pulling a 13,000 lb 5th wheel (<= 65 mph). Six years and 68,000 miles later, we bought a motorhome, and sold the pickup for exactly what we paid for it.
2013 Toyota Prius C - Bought it from my son when he was preparing to trade it in. Pretty generic car, but 47 mpg is hard to beat. We got it just to keep from piling miles on the Impala, hoping to stretch out it's useful life, since we can't replace it.
