Positive Service/Inspection Experience
Following the trend of positive posts here, I have a few thoughts to share on my experience today.
Here in PA, we are required to have an annual safety inspection on our trucks and trailers. Today was my day to take the Jayco in for its annual inspection. In years past, I have used my selling dealer which is a several hour round trip. This year, I noticed that our local utility trailer and snow removal equipment dealer was advertising that they do RV trailer inspections. So, I decided to give them a try (they are only 10 min from the house).
At the Jayco dealer, they would check the lights, pull the pin on the breakaway switch, slap a sticker on it, and call it a day. I had a chance to watch the tech do the inspection at the equipment dealer today and I was quite impressed with his work. Beyond what was required for the state, he jacked up the trailer and checked all 4 brakes, all 4 bearings, put it back down and got on a creeper and rolled under it checking springs, pins, checked the air in the tires, etc. Far more than the dealer ever did. Best part was, $30 cheaper than what my dealer was doing.
So a big shout out to Smouse Trucks Vans and Trailers here in Mt. Pleasant Pa for a job well done.
