Propane alarm won't shut off?
Was leaving for work and I heard the alarm in the distance. It's been on for 10 hours now (at least). The rv (2007 23b hybrid) has been parked in our driveway since our last trip a few weeks ago. I opened all windows but didn't smell anything anyway. I did notice a slight black water tank smell (the tank didn't empty fully from our last trip... That's another problem for another day...)
I think the light is yellow but honestly (despite the picture) it was half yellow and half red lol.
Thoughts???

It could be and likely is failing. They have an expiration date just like smoke detectors.

Or a low battery.

The status light looks yellow to me in that photo... that it clearly says yellow = replace. Very easy to do. I did so this spring on mine. Got a replacement on Amazon. Can also get one the exact same size that is both a propane and CO alarm, though I did not.

Pull it out and take a look at the back.
Mine started doing the same thing. When I looked at the back, it said replace in 2015. And our travel trailer is a 2012. So yours lasted a lot longer than it was expected to.

I think that they are designed to "self destruct" after a certain period of time, just so they have to be replaced.

And if you living in your RV Full Time, they always reach end of life at 3:00am. Ask me how I know this. I had to cut the power wires to shut it up after I completely turned off he propane and aired out the interior. Pushing the reset button shut it up for a few minutes then back on it came.

Same here. They go and the easiest on the owner is just replace it.

is the trailer plugged into shore power or running off battery? If not plugged in I would plug it in first to see if it is due to a dying battery. If not, then likely needs replacing.

Hmmm it could be the battery because the lights don't work currently. It's not plugged in right now. But I wonder if the alarm drained the battery and that's why the lights aren't working anymore? Either way, we took it off the wall and disconnected the wires. I'll look at the device and see what it says. Probably just replace it. Thanks!

I had no clue the had a shelf life. Ours went off during the summer (at night of course) and was able to silent it but the last few trips out it was fine while camping just whenever I disconnect shore power to hitch back up the alarm goes off immediately and dosent shut off until a few hrs later. Looks like I'll be ordering a new one.

It's quite a coincidence this topic came up. We were winterizing ours, and after we finished, our alarm went off. Reset it, and 10 minutes later, it went off again. Not on shore power, so I thought the battery was low. It was not. There wasn't enough time to blow it out, so disconnecting the battery solved the problem for now. The date on the back is Sept. 2011, in a 2012 unit. I'm thinkin' it gets a new one also.

I have heard about blowing it out but that method has not helped any of the two that have gone bad on me in the last years. It is just the cost of camping. LOL
Mine sits right next to the entrance door and likely gets a lot of exposure to all kinds of dust, dog hair, moisture, etc.
