Rear Bumper Storage

I am trying to figure out how to install a small storage carrier on the back of my 29 RKS. It doesn't need to be all that big. I am need it about 2'x2'. I want to put my Champion Invertor on it and it weighs about 100 lbs. I am thinking of welding to the frame and then put support brackets on the rear bumper. Has anyone else every done this? Thanks

I can’t say I’ve added a rear hitch, but my 383FLFS came with a rear hitch (Reese style). It is nothing more than square tubing 2 1/2inch if I recall, welded to the frame, it is rated at 300 lbs so I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same

The bumpers are definitely not strong enough. So welding a bracket to the frame would be wise. I might suggest welding a 2" receiver hitch to the frame. Then use a cargo platform. You can take it on/off easily and you can change out with other accessories down the road.

I have an aftermarket welded on hitch. It is very nice to have.

Slow check website Mount-N-Lock. bought the one that has the hitch and the pieces that bolt to the frame. Very easy to install. After installation can haul 400 pounds. Might be something you could use.

My solution.

https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...hbe-30052.html

I did later add more welds and grade 8 bolts later in the thread.

This is on an oem receiver hitch, however I have built / installed several of my own receiver hitches in the past.

Have a receiver on my 29RKS, while I wish it was rated higher than 300 if I ever add a generator, i imagine the bouncing around is a lot of that limit. Go the receiver route for sure.
