Remote Outdoor Lighting
Has anyone installed an aftermarket RF remote for their outside lights?
Where we boondock, it gets seriously dark.
Right now, finding our way to the trailer requires leaving the truck's lights on until getting to the TT and turning some lights on. Then go back to the truck to turn things off.
On my last TT, I replaced the porch light with a motion sensing fixture. The results were less than satisfactory since we still had to make our way to the TT in the dark.
I would like to add a fob to the TT's keys that I can just push a button and have one or more (of the 3) exterior lights come on. So we can just shut off the truck and head to the trailer.
Several companies sell what I think I need. "12V Wireless Controller"
What experience have others had with these things?

It should work. I would wire it in parallel with the switch you use to control the light you use now.

We installed one of these lights on our Eagle. It works great and is bright. We have the LED lights under the awning, but so far we are on our 3rd set so this will come in handy when this set goes out.

X2. Yes, we just do it the old fashion way. I have flashlights in both door side panels of our tow vehicle. The wife has her own flashlight if needed. Lot less expensive and less trouble.

Something else that has to be remembered to be taken with us from the TT to the truck in the morning. Between us, we're lucky if we've got 2 sets of underwear on.
Though...the idea has some merit. A little LED key fob light would be enough. One on each of the sets of keys!
Fabulous! And a whole lot less work and cost. Amazon, here I come!
Thank You to Everybody!

Our Silverado lights are set to remain on for several seconds after turning the engine off. Plenty of time to get the TT opened and lights on. When camping we always keep flashlites and or headlamps available in the tv. Just put them back after using them.

The Taco don't do that "headlight' thang...
And, as I mentioned, "remember" is not something SWMBO and I have in an abundant supply. C.R.S. is what we have plenty of!
Looks like there are plenty of key-ring flashlights out there. As long as I have the keys (they are needed to lock the TT) I'll have a flashlight in my pocket.

My favorite has been the SureFire Nano. Cheap and pretty bright. Only problem I've ever had with it is some of them are a little loose, so I've reached into my pocket to find a pile of batteries and a detached flashlight head! Still like 'em though. They have gotten me out of plenty of jams.

<<googled the thing>>
Close, but no banana.
I was thinking closer to this:
https://www.usflashlights.com/Custom...al-Flashlights
Pick up a handful of 'em next time I'm at the officious despot register and attach one each to the two sets of keys for the TT. Throw the rest in the TT's junk er..utility drawer as spares.
Just enough light so we don't trip on -or- bump into anything. And always with the keys.

My bad. StreamLight Nano:
http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-73...reamlight+nano
Edit: We also have these ALL OVER THE PLACE.
http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece...ght-69065.html
We buy them in 10 or 12 pks whenever we see them for a good price and keep them all over the house, all over each of our vehicles, and all over the trailer. I keep them in my tool boxes, at home and in the trailer. Most of the time they even work when I need them!

I had found the sales listings and reviews for the StreamLight Nano when I googled for it. It is a solid piece of equipment. Just not quite what I am after.
I want something that won't be noticed in a pocket. The StreamLight is over 1/2" in diameter and about 1.5" long; that's a bit much. Something 4mm thick and tapered to a maximum width of 12mm would be ideal.

A lot of these things are programmable too. I know my Traverse has multiple delay settings - 3 or 4 I think. Could easily program a longer delay when camping, most of the time I don't use it, so have a shorter delay set.
And while folks are at it, please program your vehicle not to beep when locking/unlocking. My DSis (a tenter) drives me crazy when she puts the food or other stuff back into her car after campfire. Beep, shuffle, beep. So annoying at a CG at night. Sorry, hijacking for a rant there....

This is what I carry in that pocket every day, so the flashlight doesn't get noticed all that much for me. But I totally see where you're coming from, those little keychain lights are great.

I wont argue over what works for you. My desire is just a bit different.
But what is that yellow thing to the left in the photo?

I finally tried to install this RF remote a couple of days ago - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o02_s00
It did not work. The remote looks like it was working, but the led lights on my trailer would not do anything. I have requested a refund.

I certainly can't fault you for that! I'm interested in what you end up with; always looking for upgrades to my kit.
The yellow thing is Burt's Bees lip balm, the label is always the first thing to go when I get a new tube.

Most smartphones have flashlight apps. We have gone for late night walks using just our cell phone flashlight. They are pretty bright!

Which means you can't put it in your control center in place of the original switch. Also, how close were you to the receiver? Mine has a very short range.
All that, and it still could be a bad switch.

I am an electronics technician. The receiver was just not working at all. I mounted it outside where my lights come outside. Luckily I didn't heat the heat shrink yet. I could get my lights to come on by flipping my inside switch on, but they wouldn't do anything with the remote. I started reading a bunch of the complaints and it looks pretty common.
