Roof Membrane Replacement
We pulled the ceiling down in the garage in our ToyHauler and the roof is shot. I think I want to replace the roof membrane but I am unsure what product to use. One of the options is Alpha Systems, which is a Lippert company. There membrane is TPO (not sure what that means). I can store the camper indoors while I make the repairs.
1) What membrane material have you used with success?
2) Any experience with Alpha and TPO?
3) Any good links or articles I should read?
Thanks
Rich

I would look into one of the sprayed on replacements.

I priced spray on and it is more than I want to spend, I can buy the materials to do the roof myself for about $1000. Also the sheeting will still need to be replaced regardless of the system used.

Regarding Alpha systems, Jayco uses them for their roofing material already, so you may already have an Alpha Systems roof. I don't know if Jayco uses Alpha Systems exclusively though. ~CA

Lippert picked up Alpha Systems for exlusive distribution of all of Alpha's products some time ago. To me,that should be a pretty solid statement of their products in both quality and application.

We had ours done using RV FlexArmor and if I bought a new one would have it done to it. No more regular inspection,re- taping seams, etc

YouTube channel AZ Expert. He is an RV tech out in Arizona. If you look through some of his videos he has a lot that show the process of replacing/repairing/inspecting roofs.
TPO is Thermoplastic Polyolefin. It is a type of plastic that does not stretch much. The other common roof membrane is EDPM which is ethylene propylene diene terpolymer. It is more of a rubber type material. Both have their pros and cons. Google them.

JAYCO uses DiFlex II which is DICOR.
Magnum Truss™ Roof System with one-piece seamless DiFlex II material

After looking at the work required, we decided to sell the ToyHauler. The buyer was well aware of the issues and has repaired similar campers in the past. I suspect they will fix and resell it, but that is OK. I sleep a lot better now the camper is gone.
Thanks to everyone.

I had RV Flex Armor sprayed on my roof 6 years ago. I should have had it done before the TPO material started to fail at 5 years (don't believe the 10-12 year material warranty). If I were to buy a new RV today I would have it sprayed before I ever used it. No more rubber roof and caulking, etc. for me EVER.
The durability of the RV Flex Armor material is amazing. I had limb from an oak tree fall on my roof last year with zero damage other a bit of bark residue which wiped off. My a/c's work better due to more insulation in the roof and rain isn't nearly as loud. Did I say zero caulking already?
