Toilet seal not holding water

We have a new to us 2015 23rb elite. This is our 3rd time out with and and the DW noticed that the water is not remaining in top of the ball valve in the toilet. We have tried cleaning it with some dish detergent with hot water and a toilet brush and I put some toilet seal lube and conditioner on it to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions also does anyone know which brand it is.
Thank you in advance
Jesse

There should be a label somewhere on the back that ID's the mfg and model #.

If you tried all that, the rubber seal may need to be replaced. You could call them when you find out what make it is.

We had the same thing happen a couple of years ago with ours. It's a pretty easy repair.

When that happened to ours I apply a bit of 100% silicone plumbers grease to the seal. It works for months. I get it at Ace Hardware.

On our 1st jay flight, the po replaced the seal but it still wasn't holding water. I bought a new seal only to figure out that the po installed the new seal upside down. I didn't think it was possible but it was. Check that too.

We had to replace our original toilet after 5 years. Now I use plumbers grease in the spring and fall. Do not use anything that is petroleum based.

I just applied the plumbers grease, if that does not hold up I will pull the bowl and replace the gaskets.

Also open the valve and use an old tooth brush to scrub the gasket on the hole and re-apply the silicone.

Try and remember not to use the brush again.

This is a common problem. First thing is to never let the bowl run out of water. This includes (especially) during storage. When storing (I'm in So Cal. so this may not apply if you have to "winterize") make sure the bowl is full. Put the seat and cover down. Check every couple weeks and fill the bowl back up as necessary. By doing this, you keep the seal hydrated.

Second, the seal does require maintenance. Remove the seal, clean it, and lubricate it with plumbers grease. Reinstall. Should be water proof. Or just replace the seal with a new one.

My 16 Eagle quit holding water after about 1 1/2 years. It looks easy to remove does it have a grove on the out side to hold in place? Plumbers lube may be my first try. Thanks

The seal is easy to replace, as we did a couple seasons ago. You remove the toilet from the coach, and separate the top from the bottom half. The seal doesn't have a groove holding it in. Once in half, the seal lifts out, lube the new one and put in place, and reverse the procedure to reassemble it. Replace the floor seal, reinstall the toilet, hook up the one water line, and test it. The new seal kit should come with instructions, and all the necessary seals, etc. I've never done it before, and I think it took less than an hour. Good luck.

So it didn’t hold up, we have a vacation planned we leave the day after Thanksgiving so I will be ordering the parts while away and install when I get back. Either that or maybe just let it sit there and not have to worry about if the seals have antifreeze over them so they dont dry out and tasckle it in the spring.
