Whisper-Quiet Return Grille

Our Fifth-Wheel has the Whisper-Quiet A/C system (ducted supply and return air system). The return air grilles are just stamped metal grilles screwed into the ceiling with a filter between the grille and the ceiling.

The problem is that every time we clean the filter, you have to unscrew the grille and them have to be screw them back up when replaced. It is very hard to hit the screw holes in the ceiling, the screw holes enlarge each time removed/replaced them, and/or you have to make new screw holes. After a while it looks like the ceiling has taken a few couple shot-gun blasts.

I have seen in pictures of newer Fifth-Wheels they have changed to a different grille. Does anyone have information on this grille? It looks like the grille opens to change the filter, or the filter slips out - can anyone confirm this or explain how the filter is removed/replaced to clean?

I would greatly appreciate any information about this newer grille.

Rick

The only place I found anything was HOME DEPOT CANADA. I had a friend bring me a pair. Not available at HOME DEPOT USA.

mine are plastic and pull out. But they are also a bit flimsy so most of the time i just use the vacuum on them.

Does the whisper quiet make a big difference? Our current A/C cools pretty good but it sounds like a jet taking off inside while it is running. Thanks

A little. Not as loud as the furnace but quieter than past AC units we have had. And much quieter than the bedroom ac unit.
