Who is Getting Ready for the First Camping Trip?

We uncovered our trailer today as the start of preparation for our first camping trip at the end of the month. Getting the cover off this 33 foot TT wasn't too difficult on this calm, sunny and windless day. The trailer is clean and shiny so the cover did its job of protecting the roof and general finish from the elements during the seven months it's been covered.

I ran the furnace, A/C, put the slide out/in, lowered and raised the stablizer jacks. I'll wait another week to unwinterize the water system. My wife began loading the "stuff" She needs for the season. I installed the Sleep Number matters she purchased. I thought the mattress we had was fine but the Lady wanted a Sleep Number so hopefully she'll be happy with it. I like this time of year as much as I dislike the end of the season and covering the trailer.

Our first trip won't come around till May 10th when we camp on the shoreline of Lake Huron in Michigan. The trailer has been at the dealer since Feb 19th getting some minor warranty work done.

We got about a dozen trips planned already that will give us almost 50 overnight stays in it. Fun times are coming.

Bought a WDH and started to install. I intend to drive around locally while I fine tune it. Then lube the wheel bearings. First trip is near end of month, and inside of TT is ready to go.

We have just bought our long awaited X23B. We are planning on our first trip with it 4/26/19 in Lancaster PA. I have been researching, buying, and stocking it for weeks with needed site items. Just waiting for the Anderson levelers, and X-chocks to get here. I think I have everything else. We have been camping for 30 years, and have not been this exited in a long time. Cannot wait!

Ugh, another 2" of snow in the forecast for tomorrow. I am just dreaming of seeing grass again. First trip is still about 6 weeks off. Have to rebuild the floor in the TT before I get there.

Our first trip in the new TT is this weekend. I loath first trips of the year because it always seems like we are unprepared. This trip is making me a bit nervous because it's a bigger unit and I'm not familiar with setting it up or towing long distances.

Totally understand those feelings given we moved up from a 23' TT to a 32.5' TT last year. For me the key is not to get in a rush to do anything because rushing is usually when I get myself into trouble. Leave yourself plenty of extra time to get where you're going so you'll have plenty of daylight to set up when you get there.

How far you traveling the first day?

We are just staying at a CG in Kansas City for a shake down trip. The trip next month is 50 miles out then it's off to South Dakota in June.

Bringing the rig home this weekend to finish packing it up for the big trip from NJ to Disney. Already had the rig aligned, oil changed last weekend. Put a new house battery in too. Only thing left for me to do is flush out the RV antifreeze in my water lines and sanitize.

Looking forward to putting some miles on the rig.

Just wrapped up our first trip to Evergreen RV Park in Mt Eaton, OH. Nice park. Prepped the TT last week, only a couple items left behind! Didn't pay close enough attention to our list.

Took the cover of our 2018 Greyhawk 31DS last weekend, changed the engine oil, tested all the systems, aired up the tires, cleaned the interior and washed all the linens, and finished with a good top to bottom exterior washing. Leave Thursday the 18th for a 10 day Easter trip to Myrtle Beach. Cannot wait !!

I'm leaving Wednesday the 17th around 11:30PM. If I see a Greyhawk w/ Jersey plates on I95 I'll beep !

One of our most memorable trips was the trip to Disney (Ft. Wilderness Campground) from NY. We stayed overnight at First Landing in Virginia Beach and a campground near Savannah, GA (right off I-95 but can't remember the day). Have a great time!

Nice! We're hoping to the "first trip of the season" stuff after we retire next year. Of course that all depends on staying relatively health which is getting to be more of a challenge each year.

That said, enjoy the rest of your long camping season .

I GI Joe it all the way to Yemmasee SC, then we're at the Fort mid afternoon the following day.

On the way back we stop at Fayeteville NC, then its back home the following mid-afternoon.

Ha, ha...my days of GI Joeing it are long gone. I kid my wife about the days I would drive from Virginia Beach to NY every other Friday to drive back Sunday night so I could report for duty Monday morning, just to see my girl friend (now my wife of 47 years) when I was 20 years old. I think back about it now and shake my head wondering "what was I thinking". I wasn't think, I was driven by pure emotion and testosterone.

Enjoy the trip!
