Why would I want a 2000i gen vs a 1000i gen

I have a 1000i generator now but even though it says it's quiet it really isn't compared to a Honda or Yamaha. So if I buy a new generator why would I want a 2000i one?

It all comes down to the capacity you need. You will simply be able to run more at the same time off of a 2000 vs. a 1000.

I have a 2000I easier on sensitive equipment computers etc, used ours at Cades Cove last year put 40 hrs on machine and did not use four gallons of gas. If I had ran the big generator would of been a lot more gas and it ran all we needed except the A/C wihich we did not need.

What brand is the 2000i? There are many with that number. For my needs the Honda 2000i is perfect. Your needs may be different.

The Honda EU2000i will run every thing on our TT except the AC. If you don't need to run the AC, I would suggest a single EU2000i.

I have a second Honda for those occasions I need to run the AC. Needing air can happen when college football season starts. It can get pretty darn hot in the early part of September. However, since our dog passed, we can get by not using the AC a little more now.

I think I will go ahead and get a 2000i generator. Since I usually camp at 7-9000' my smaller 1000i generator probably doesn't put out as much as I thought.

Does anyone know if Honda or Yamaha have replacement high altitude jets?

Ok I'm confused about what the dog passing had to do with a.c working.

They used the AC to keep their dog cool when they would otherwise be comfortable without AC on. Now since they don't have the dog, they will not be using AC as much.

Ok. Never considered that. My dog always stays outside to guard against thieves. And that's in the winter time so I'm running heater not ac. ( hunting camp ) Guess I'm old fashioned. My dog is just another tool of the trade.

I recently received an email from Honda. There is a new version of the popular 2000i model. Im betting remote start among some of the upgrades.

Last December Honda announced a EU2200i model that will be released in spring 2018, most of the features seem the same as the EU2000i but of course more power. And now its available in red or camo.

My local dealer confirmed the 2200i when I stopped by the other weekend. He said that he expects to see them in stock late March or early April.

Another reason to consider the larger generator is the size of the converter on your trailer. A 1000 won't power a converter over 40 amps if your batteries are low. I get buy nicely with my Honda 1000, but I use an auxiliary 25 amp smart charger for charging batteries. I have a 90 amp conveter on my 5er.

If you plan to run an A/C, you will need a EU3000is, or two EU2000i; assuming you're looking at Honda. I run a 3000, and we can run the A/C, toaster, and coffee maker; but one 2000 couldn't do that. I think the decision path then becomes whether you are comfortable throwing around a 130#+ generator.
A generator purchase is not one you should go cheap on. Reliability, not warranty, should be the first priority. And both Honda and Yamaha have proven reliability. Also, your camping neighbors will complement how quite your generator is, which is a thank you in disguise.
Good luck.

sasiki answered, but I will confirm.

In past years, when we traveled, and especially at football games in September,
it would be too hot to keep our dog in the closed TT when we weren't around,
such as when we were actually at the game.

Unfortunately in June of 2017 he passed at the age of 13. Therefore, this past fall we could leave the AC off when we went in to the game, because we didn't need to keep the dog cool.

For our purposes, love the Honda 2000i. At approx. 35-40 lbs the Honda 2000's are relatively easy to lift in and out of truck box and much lighter than a 3000+ generator. When A/C is not needed we use one to run inverter to charge batteries and if we need A/C we can plug in the second Honda for 4000 peak watts.

Details for the new 2200i say 1800 running watts vs 16** for the 2000i and also that it can be paralleled with the 2000i. Will be anxious to see if the extra watt power will be enough to kick an AC unit.
