FNG with a new Jay Flight 28BHS

Hey all,

This past week my wife and I picked up our new 2015 Jay Flight 28BHS. I'm not new to camping as I grew up camping in a tent but this is the first travel trailer we've owned. We've rented a few before but look forward to looking over this forum and finding the tricks and trade of being an TT owner. Any input you all have we will gladly take.

Our tow vehicle is a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with the 5.6L V8. Same motor the Titan and Armada have. Great motor with tons of power, but it sure loves to drink gas. MPGs are horrible and not looking to get any better now that we have a TT.

First order of business is to purchase a sewer hose. I would have thought a sewer hose would have been a standard feature, but I was wrong. Don't want to camp without having the ability to drain the tanks.

Welcome to the JOF and congrats on the new TT! That's a great layout (but I may be biased).

Did you check inside the TT rear bumper for a hose? You might get lucky and find one there. And congrats on the new rig!

I did find a local used 2013 28BHS but somewhere along the lines the newer 2015 was lighter. We have yet to camp in the TT but I we do like having the couch and booth close together and the ample counter space.

I did check there on my walk around. That's when I was surprised that we didn't have a sewer hose.

You better check for a water hose. Propane for the tanks. Water pressure regulator. Electrical surge protector. Coffee pot. Toilet paper. The list is seemingly endless.

Both propane tanks were full. Brand new batteries. I checked both of those. No water hose, pressure regulator and I don't think there is a surge protector. The dealership gave me a gift card which I will probably use to buy the sewer hose and water hoses. I don't drink coffee so I won't need one of those.

Any suggestions on sewer hoses, water hoses, pressure regulator and a surge protector (do I need this)?

Welcome to the forum. Many RV dealers provide a "starter kit" with a sewer hose, fresh water hose, and some other goodies. Below is a thread about the "top ten must haves" (and so much more...). BTW, we have had our 28 BHS for 5 1/2 years now, and its been a very reliable unit.

And since you asked about a sewer hose, this poll may steer you in the right direction on which one to buy:

Thanks for the welcome. I did look at some starter kits but like many other things I think I could find better products for cheaper somewhere other than the dealer.

As for the 28BHS, I hope to get as many years of good service out of mine as you have yours.

Welcome. I've ordered most of my camping gear through Amazon Prime, saved me a ton of money.
