Hello to all from Blanche in Corning, NY

We have a 2014 Jayco Premier 5th Wheel, purchased to order at end of 2013. Suddenly we're developing cracks at the top of the front cap above and below the clearance lights. The first was allegedly repaired; however, the haul home seems to have created one even larger. Anyone else having this issue?

Welcome to JOF. I am assuming you are out of warranty. If the problem was identified before the end of warranty, I would get with a dealer, the same one that handled it before and see if they can get some relief from Jayco.

Are the cracks in the gelcoat or all the way thru the fiberglass? I had a similar problem with mine on the front cap, different place and it was repaired locally at a fiberglass shop under warranty. It was just in the gelcoat.

Keep us posted on the resolution.

I have a 2015 jayco eagle 338 rets travel trailer and I also noticed not only fading of my cap but some stress cracks in the same area ... As I work on fiberglass cars and boats I would venture a guess it is most likely in the gelcoat only ... sometimes when parts like the front caps are laid up the gelcoat might be mixed a little too hot making it brittle and in those areas the gelcoat is probably thicker. my front cap is supposed to be repaired and refinished at the jayco plant in October so I am sure we will discuss exactly what they plan to do during the refinish process

I'm not quite sure how to know if it is just the gel. The first crack was repaired under warranty; however, I didn't get to look at it before hauling home. When I called the dealer about additional cracking, waited for about 3 weeks after sending photos, the response was, not much that can be done. We dropped the unit at the dealer in October of 2015 and didn't get it back until May of 2016. Apparently they had problems getting into the body shop, then couldn't get a complete set of decals.
