New member. Information & Advice needed

Howdy, I’m not the Sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers and texting, please bare with me. I’d like to have things explain to me Simply and with a Few options. I like to have recommended sources and Prices for parts for a project.

I have a 2017 Jayco Redhawk with issues. We usually go camping with electric hook upon site. I would like to be able to go camping off grid. I am about to change my battery. I would like to know my options for two batteries to go in the stock compartment of the Redhawk . Should I go with TWO 12 Volt deep cell batteries or two 6 V batteries? In parallel? WHAT BRAND ?

Norcold Refrigerator/Freezer not getting cold enough. I have moved the thermostat clip to the left. Should I put one or two fans in the refrigerator? Fan in the exhaust?
Any advice would help thanks.

WELCOME TO JOF!!!

The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

What are the issues with your RedHawk?

As for batteries, your RedHawk may have limited space available for batteries. There will be a lot of opinions regarding which way you should go, either 12Volt batteries or 6volt batteries.

My thoughts are, if you are serious about dry-camping, and if (2) 6 volt deep cycle batteries will fit go with them. 2 Trojan T105 batteries will give you about 230Amp Hours, of which you can only use 130Ah (battery 50% rule). A regular 12 volt Marine/RV deep cycle battery is 85Amp hours of which you can only use about 40ish Amp hours. Big difference.

Welcome to the forum.

If you get two 12volt batteries, you connect them in parallel for 12volts.
If you decide to get two 6volt batteries, connect them in series for 12volts.

Before you spend a ton of money $300 400 for big batteries find out how much you will really need.

Will you camp in cold weather and need the furnace ( a power hog).
Do you just have to use the microwave?
Do you plan to watch tv a lot?

If yes to any of these three than big batteries are a must. But on top of that you will also have to consider a generator to keep them charged or solar.

Lots of posts on this, use the search function above to read up and get some knowledge to decide what to do or ask for more advice.
