New to Jayco travel trailers

Hi everybody!

I'm a long time RVer with a new-to-me 2018 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 267BHS with the Smoke interior decor.

Our previous RV was Class C 2002 Four Winds Majestic 28A. It was a retired Cruise America rig that we bought in 2005. We (really DH) made a bunch of very nice modifications and I loved that thing. We took it all over the place and put about 100,000 miles on it. Florida every spring. West coast every summer. And all over the mid-Atlantic for long weekends. It got very unreliable in 2017/2018, so we took a few years off. Went to Hawaii instead, etc.

Anyway, I expect the trailer to be a bit of an adjustment, no more in flight beverage and meal service for DH and the kids. And I'm a little bit scared of blowouts and flaming trailer tires - I've seen too many burning trailers by the side of the road, but I'll just have to get over it.

DH and I will spend the next few weeks making some mods to make it our own. Our first trip is in less than 60 days!!!!

So I'll do my best to share and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions when we can't figure it out.

Welcome from Washington State!

To ease your tire fears, just buy a new set of Goodyear Endurance tires for your new rig. Made here in the U.S. of A. and good reviews!

DH to Snow White here. I'm more paranoid about the trailer bearings than the tires. Most of the trailer's we've encountered on the side of the road were sitting on the axle with the wheel somewhere off in the woods. There was one time in Wyoming when we saw a 5th wheel going the other way with smoke coming out of all of the roof vents.......

Beltsville, MD? If so, howdy from Silver Spring!

Buy quality tires that are over rated for your weight and make sure you maintain your bearings. Either pack them yourself or pay someone, but at least every 2-3 years you should be servicing them. Check tire pressures before you start a trip and replace tires at 5-6 years old, no matter the wear. Although with your vacation history, you'll probably wear them out before they rot!

Enjoy the camper!!!

I just checked. It looks like we already have fairly new looking Goodyear Endurance tires. Well, one less thing to be worried about....
