Saying hello!

Hey y'all! New(bie) members checking in from KY. My wife and I just bought our first travel trailer, looking forward to getting out there and having a great time. We looked at new units, but couldn't justify 25K plus for a trailer small enough to be safely towed with our Jeep. So we started looking for used campers, what nightmare! Every time we'd find one that would work for us, it was either already gone, or there were 15 people in line. Being frustrated, we stopped looking for a couple weeks. I happened to just pull up the trader site, put some info in and found our camper within a few minutes. Called the dealer, made an offer and ended up putting a deposit on it, I don't think he was actually expecting us to drive 9 hours to pick it up. Anyway, we left far eastern KY last Friday morning and make the 9 hour trek to Rockford, IL to pick up our new to us Kiwi 17a. Other than fixing the inner fender, and some mangled wiring from the previous owners blowout, it really didn't need anything done to it. I put a new digital thermostat, and new wiring in because the original wiring was a casualty, why not a cheap upgrade? My wife wasn't big on the vinyl floor, so I put down waterproof laminate planks for her, changed all the lighting to LED, converted a little chandelier to LED and hung it for her(she's all about this Glamping stuff), done some general cleaning and it's ready to go. The Fire Marshall came today to inspect it so we can get it registered and all that good stuff, passed inspection with flying colors. We took the first week of November off for vacation and heading to Gatlinburg for it's maiden voyage. Sorry for the long winded post, pretty excited about it and not sleeping in a tent!

Welcome to JOF. we are currently near Gatlinburg. Hope you have a memorable maiden voyage. That area will be cold in November, take some warm clothes!

Yep, it's a little cool down there. That's where we spent our anniversary last year... Been keeping an eye on the weather, still showing 60's and high 30's low 40's at night.
