Second time (but new) Jayco owner from KY
Hello all:
I'm relatively new to RV'ing (less than 1 year), but not new to Jayco: we bought a 2019 Jay Flight SLX 154 bh in August of 2018, and then traded it in May of 2019 for a 2019 Jay Flight SLX 224 bh.
I thought that I went in with "eyes wide open" this second time, but we were still caught off guard by the general misinformation and questionable business practices of a certain large, well-know nationwide RV retailer (even though our units were bought at different locations).
We love our new 224 bh, but I have already been fixing "fit and finish issues", some fairly significant; overall, I like Jayco's overall engineering and designs in their ultralight models, but not their finished product quality in some cases. I've learned to address some of these issues myself, since my experience with CW service departments has been less than stellar, and in some instances they exhibited jaw-dropping incompetentence
The 224bh seemed to be the best choice (for the money and our tow vehicle), as we wanted an always available double or queen bed (not a dinette conversion), as well as some bunks for our grown children and their young families. The "double wide bunks" on the 224 bh are really comfortable and accessible! And the bathroom in our new model is stunningly large.
My only complaints with this 224 bh design are 1) less than 1000# CCC (GVWR only 5500#), and 2) not having the awning extend over the outside camp kitchen. Since we have twin 3500# axles, a 2 5/16" hitch coupler, and a frame that seems as beefy as the 264 bh (which has a 6000# GVWR and is three feet longer), I'm mystified as to why the GVWR is only 5500#. With a full water load when we go boondocking, we don't have much CCC left over for our RV gear.
Anyway, I appreciate the help that I've found on this forum over the last year, and have decided to join it. Many thanks to those here who have helped me grow in knowledge over the last several months!
Best wishes,

Hello Norty:
I can't say that I have. The fellow who did the PDI with us pointed out that we shouldn't "push" on the digital Dometic thermostat, and that has proven to be very solid advice. He went so far as to say that if we push too hard on it (trying to get it to respond), not only may it not respond, but it could ultimately damage it.
The trick is to touch it with just enough pressure so that it knows it's being touched, but not as hard as you would press an actual "mechanical" switch. So basically I just use a light--to-medium long tap.
Best wishes,
