Yep, JOF has now forced a 30-second "page Reload Script" into the forum, so it reloads the page and will initiate a reload of the page element hosting all of the adware they get paid for... (each ad load to an active browser session)

It is the most annoying page layout... sometimes the ads covering the content of the forum. Some of these ads can also carry scripts within the ad themselves that can be malicious if written so...

I'm going to dedicate my focus on the Facebook Jayco Seneca page instead - Yea FB has ads too.. but not obsessively annoying like this.

And for those who think Pop up blockers are the answer? sure they block most ad's, but they also block warning messages, and other pop-up page elements that are legitimate and needed for the web-app to properly function.

I made it better now... I loaded the Ublock plug-in after getting some great insight from @Riverman!

After being sent three ad's while JOF was the only site open on the browser that had very questionable scripting (that tripped the flags of our anti-malware protection) I no longer see any of the annoyances of the forum with Ublock!

When logged on I'am not a fan of the constant changing 'slide show' of different AD's and movement of the "Recent Threads" block along the right side of the forum thread pages...., very annoying.

Ad Block Plus eliminates them. Great tool.

Yes, I'm aware of the features/benefits of AD blockers, but I personally have avoided them for years because they continue to come with known vulnerabilities that IMO rule out the benefits.

The increased disruption trends with the newer AD models, not just at JOF, seem like they are competing with the intended 'visual' content of the web page being viewed.

I'm not a fan of browser addons. I avoid them when I can.

I block ads using OpenDNS web filtering. Far cleaner and better performance because the ads are blocked by the DNS provider before they even get to your machine. I can add custom domains to block. Just hover over an ad and the domain will show up in the status bar. The worst offender is doubleclick.net and variations.

Hmmm, good to know. What kind of vulnerabilities? I’m only using it on an iPad, iOS 13.6.1 — not ready for 14 quite yet. Thanks.

They have the technology to gather private data from a user (many state they don't), but some do on a very limited basis. These technical capabilities in the wrong hands 'could' be used to gather personal data from a given web page one is viewing.

Last year there was a vulnerability found in Adblock Plus that could allow a hacker to read a user's Gmail. Source: https://adblockplus.org/faq-privacy

Here's ABP's Privacy FAQ: https://adblockplus.org/faq-privacy

I realize there's vulnerability throughout the internet, I just like to keep my exposure to them at a minimum whenever possible.

Just wondering, how many free apps do you have installed on your smartphone?

Don't own a smart phone....., just an old basic LG flipper with a cheap monthly.
