Is this enough snow?

If you google "blizzard of 77 carthage ny", the first You Tube up shows a bunch of still pictures taken when I lived there. It snowed so hard, they pulled the plows off the road and waited it out. At the 1:13 mark is a photo of me driving the ambulance to a call. I made the mistake of going out to the Squad to check on my crews Friday......I was able to leave the following Wednesday! Hospital food isn't that bad, once you get used to it. We got about 100 inches of the white stuff that storm, and it's something I'll never forget.

If you google "what sandy beaches of maui", you'll see a perfect amount of snow for me!

JFlightRisk, I think that area got hit pretty hard this past week as well. I have not been up to my camp on "The Hill" in a while, but I think we (Turin) got spared on this one. On a seasonal road, so not as motivated as I was when I was younger to work my way into camp in deep snow.

Yes they did, my FIL called his sister in Carthage on Thursday AM, and she had three feet or better, with a couple more possible. Not so good when you have a one foot puppy. I do think it went more south of you for the most part. We're getting a little lake effect right now, but not bad so far. Just colder than heck.

Ah the fond memories of when my husband was stationed at Camp Drum and with a rear 2 whd car had to go to Syracuse two nights a week for college. Was always interesting as classes were never cancelled and of course the lake effect monster was in full force in Adams. This was in 1967
The biggest snow I remember was in 66.. 108 inches between us at college in Canton and Syracuse. We could not go home for semester break. So we went to Ottawa and partied.

At the time of “The Blizzard of 77”, I was 16 years old and living in a suburb of Buffalo, NY which is Lancaster NY.

The snow drifted so high in some places that you could actually climb on the snow drifts and grab the overhead traffic signals and light standards.

We lived close to a small grocery store and the store owner gave away bananas & milk for those who had small kids or elderly in their families. We survived on peanut butter and canned goods for a week.

I just bought a 1968 Dodge Coronet and it sat buried in snow for a week. My Dad was a Ford man at the time and he had a 1975 LTD and 1974 AMC Gremlin that my Mom drove. Both cars would not start after we dug them out. My Dodge started first crank. I laughed and my father cursed as I drove away.

The most memorable winters I remember up there was '61-'62, '66-'67, and the '77 blizzard. It seemed after August, all you did was move snow and chop wood! I always said, there's only two seasons up north...winter, and the 4th of July!
